I'm surprised some Karen from your HOA doesn't put a cabosh on your nitro enjoyment. Glad to see you got your tune worked out. Stick to 20% fuel and you'll have less issues. Thanks for the video!

sounds pretty legit and tunedwell on 20 percent earl!!
@hybrid324942 жыл бұрын
hey bro! I see some positive changes with the 20% nitro, I'd say most of this is due to the tune being less aggressive (not sure how else to put this). But ye, normally going down in nitro content will require like a 1/2 turn leaner. Not a complete science, lots of other factors, consul also be you're running more fuel and the motor is starting to run more consistently. Always, the 3.3 model is the keeper. Unless you want the 2.5 for collection purposes, here is no need to keep it if you got the 3.3 too.

It very important to have the idle correct as Earl is completely correct. I remember if idle was to high it won’t go into reverse👍🏻

I remember switching fuel 25% or even 30% into the Tmaxx made the truck Running better but u have to retuned. Earl I just wanted to let you know the 2.5 had problems and would lean out and blow then the revised it and called it the 2.5rs supposed to fix lean problem I had several issues my friend didn’t but then I got the 3.3 which was much better and heatsink. Great video Earl thanks for sharing god bless

So watching your t maxx video series and I find my using my classic more than my 3.3. I keep breaking something. My 2.5 is solid. Still learning about tune. Ran on traxxas fuel and I will be switching to a different fuel. Thanks again for your videos.

That's all I run in all my nitro's and have no problems,if you want a little more out of that 2.5when the warranty runs out put a 3.3 crankshaft in it, that's what I did with mine, also you can put an os 11 carb and it will make a big difference.

Make sure your exhaust coupler ,fuet tank lid,are staying sealed aka your fuel pump circuit also adding klotzs bean oil to your fuel helps the engines live stay with the lowest nitro content you can as a last resort you can add a ignition system that lights the glow plug with the throttle.

It's a T-Max classic for a reason. It's an older platform with older technology. Now the engine you should be able to tune it. Traxxas's carburetors are infamous for leaking and cracked. Try the losi 3.4 carburetor which I believe you can still get at amain. Just a suggestion.. I got that carburetor on my RCR modded TRX 3.3 and it's great

2.5 was always fickle for me. I had a tmaxx classic when it wasn't a classic. It was picky on fuel. Never ran right with traxxas fuel. I went with Byron's back in the day and it was okay then found sidewinder and it was mint. Stuck with it for all my RCs. Even switched to cool power for my planes. Both made by Morgan Fuels in Alabama. I like bones brew too. It's very similar to but a little better than Byrons and pretty cheap in bulk. But my favorite is still sidewinder race blend 30% Nitro 12% Oil. The stuff brings engines to life. Also, OS 11k carbs on all 3.3's. They should come from the factory with them. Night and day difference.

Nice. This is what makes nitro live. Thanks for sharing Earl. I had the same problem with 30%. Just don’t leave fuel in the engine nor the tank. Traxxas top fuel seems to get slushy over time. A few days is ok but if you going to put the RC away at least leave the engine empty. The tank is easier to clean and push fuel through the lines of not clean the fuel filter.👍
@earlmoorhead55552 жыл бұрын

I honestly didn’t know why you weren’t using the recommended 20%. You yourself are usually pretty good with the new RC sticking to manufactures recommendation. Love your channel. I don’t know how you handle that heat. Oh my God it was 85 in Michigan today and I was melting. But we are humid here

I use 20% for the .15 and 2.5 and have no issues. 33% for the 3.3’s and they run fine. I don’t keep having to adjust the needles, the only time is the summer and winter, but again it’s only minor adjustments. No bigs whatsoever. Your 2.5 sounds real good.

Before I used Vp fuel 25 % because they said traxxas fuel is trash, but when I tried I preferred this now on all of my nitro because it’s run better and cooler. Now I don’t listed to them😂
@mikew29302 жыл бұрын
The bucking is normal on the 2.5 it has to do with the reverse selector in the Transmission/ idle speed , but if you get the idle set right it's very minor. Or do the the reverse delete, but I like having the reverse. I do believe the 3.3 is a better deal. Don't give up on the 2.5 once running right it's a best too. I run VP 30% nitro in all my nitro rc's with 9 %oil.

Why fight with the 33%? The 20 percent ran/idled better from what I saw. Will the classic be a keeper? When I get mine, I'm putting the rechargeable power pack in and a tank like the nitro pede had. I could put a pen between the primer and under the lid to prop it open so I could refill it one-handed. The lil things I do so I can do R/C with my disability are amazing! :)

This is the first time I watched one of your videos, very interesting. I read a lot of the comments and everyone is calling your 2.5 a classic. I'm just getting back into the RC hobby, I have a well used but runs T-Maxx .15 (needs a muffler, good luck finding one) from the early 2000's that has it's share of replacement parts (= $$$$ !) including a aluminum pan (chassis). I'm about to replace the motor with a brand new 2.5r, what fuel would recommend for break-in and every day use? I bought a conversion kit for the swap. Is my .15 a true classic?

33% fuel is far too much for a small block 2.5, it was probably detonating on you. 16-20% it where is should be for a motor of that size. Traxxas fuel is garbage. There is a reason everybody except Traxxas says so. Back in the day Traxxas recommended using WD-40 as after oil! Don't listen to them. They just want you to blow up engines more frequently. Also, if your idle is higher than you would like it, would you not just turn out the idle screw?
