Nice to see this again and go down memory lane. T-max was my 1st ever RC car, bought some 25 years ago back in Germany. I've had it about 5 years and never broken down. Only upgrades I've done was bigger engine (2.8 diff brand) and alloy exhaust straight out the rear. Also easily converted to 4-wheel steering, which was awsome show stopper for doing donuts and spins. ... shame that todays new models are not as reliable. My new Maxx V2 was great disapontment, as it broken some part every single run ... never even finished 1st battery. Now I live in UK, mostly into 1:10 scale crawlers, but also got some latest Arrma bashers. Love your honest and constructive videos! Cheers, Jay B. aka JBL TEAM

Tmaxx is awesome truck. I do have 3.3 and its a workhorse. My go to. I beat it every chance i get and its unstoppable. Good luck you will love it. And i run 30/9 fuel
@Jasonkartracing2 жыл бұрын
I have the 2.5 and the 3.3. If you want reverse I recommend the 2.5 but I think the extra 100 bucks is worth doing to get the 3.3 you get a better radio and overall truck. My 3.3 is stock but my 2.5 has the forward only gear installed, brushless servos, aftermarket head, pull start, pipe, bigger air filter, hot racing clutch, a 2s lipo receiver battery and digital radio. It’s very snappy and out runs my 3.3. If you’re on a budget the 2.5 is good and if you want to upgrade down the road either is fine also. If this is your first nitro and you want to learn how to work on it buy a used one there are tons on eBay and market place pretty cheap and parts are cheap if you get the 2.5. A rebuild kit piston and sleeve is less than 60 bucks.

But for me the best ever Monster truck would have to be the LST xxl even the Lst2 was a great truck.. but the LST XXL is BY far the best truck, Handling durability and all round fun! If you ever see one i highly recommend you getting one.

I wanted to comment about the water valve thing and to clear up any confusion. That's just a image comparison to show you that just like turning the water valve open provides more water, same goes for opening the High speed needle allowing more fuel. It has nothing to do with water cooling or anything. Also...the switch on the transmitter is to switch from forward and reverse, not 1st and 2nd gear. The transmission is automatic and once it gets to a certain rpm just as full size cars with automatic transmissions shift automatically from 1st to 2nd gear. On this version of TMAXX there is a problem with the internal clutch inside the transmission doesn't work properly and causes a "bucking" or "jerking" forward, so some people have installed part number TRA4994X Forward Only Conversion gear to eliminate the problem. You won't have reverse anymore but it solves the undesired bucking issue.

I still remember the original T-Maxx ad with a dirty, muddy T-Maxx parked on a seamless white background. It looked so sinister! It's amazing how small the classic looks in 2022. Back in the day it was gigantic compared to everything else. I owned one many years ago and it came with an AM radio. Still a great truck today, but the 3.3 is lightyears ahead of it in terms of quality and durability. Some may argue that the HPI Savage X is a better truck, but I beg to differ. Nice to see you toying with nitro again.

I've always enjoyed nitro RCs, from afar. many moons ago I bought myself the Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec and the Ofna comp buggy. The Ofna buggy I got exactly one tank of fuel through it, before giving up. I could never keep the damn engine running. The Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec was kept brand new in a box, until about two years ago. I ended up selling it to a co-woker. God bless those of you that have the patience to deal with nitro RCs. I'll stick to my electric ones.
