Tray Deee clarified the situation, emphasizing that DW Flame simply didn't read his contract thoroughly. Wait, he said they didn't take advantage of the 360 deal they had in his contract. To put a 360 deal in a contract period is a bad contract for the artist. For the people that don't know, a 360 deal is the label gets a percentage of every earning you make from any source for life. If you do an ad for Nike, the label gets a cut, if you do a TV show, the label gets a cut. He said he didn't take advantage of it but to have it in the contract means it's a bad deal.

If the label is the only reason why the artist is in position to earn the money outside of the music, that would make it a very justifiable and reasonable thing to claim a share of the profit that would never even exist were it not built upon the shoulders of previous hard work and sacrifice. That is the whole point of being in business with a well known and established partner, otherwise the artist is free to make a name and develop their brand on their own but they don't have the ability or maybe just the patience to get there independently so they need help and that help is indeed worth a considerable amount. Entitlement is a condition suffered by fools and I bet the snoop situation was worked out with Tray Dee being given whatever he had a genuine right to claim which may not necessarily have been measured in dollars but almost certainly had a lot to do with respect.

If they were forced to rely solely on music sales to get their money back they’d go out of business. 360 deals allow labels to recoup their money. The quicker they recoup, the quicker artists get to keep the rest of their career profits.

Artists whining and complaining when its your JOB as an artist to find your own attorney (DW couldve made a few calls and got a good lawyer) and discuss with your attorney what you are willing to do or not do and have them begin the negotiation / revision process. Secondly. If DW met with tray d professionally like a man and just said hey man I wanted to make some revisions on this contract and want to come to a middle ground. Do you really think tray d and his legal team wouldn't have? So many things are about communication. Once you decide as an artist you want to make a career of your work you have to devote time to educating yourself on the basics at very least and get a manager or team around you that fills in the gaps you lack.
