This really was a historic fight. Pacquiao crashed in on the Mexican Triad in the lightweight divisions and challenged everyone. Marquez was being avoided by both Barrera and Morales but Manny simply did not care about losing. By fighting all these different styles, he became the best in the division and eventually a world class boxer.

It is crazy how Juan Manuel Marquez survived those 3 knockdowns in the first round. Although it is said Manny hurt his left hand in the process and had to endure the pain the whole fight. Seeing Marquez with a bloody nose is like a preview to the Pacquiao-Marquez 4 fight. Where Marquez yet again survived and finally got the KO victory. Time flies, I can't believe this was 19 years ago.

The same thing happened to Morales… you notice after the 3rd knockdown, he’s not hurt, he’s frustrated. Even for even a second, he probably thought of calling it quits. It makes you mad. You’re not hurt, but you keep falling. Unfortunately, Morales said “I’m done”. I’m glad Marquez didn’t. Though 3 knockdowns in a row, whether your hurt or not, will just DESTROY any confidence you’ve ever had.

I'd say Marquez was the reason Pacquiao become the boxer that he is. Pacquiao always overwhelmed his opponents with this speed and power, but Marquez took all that, survived, and picked him apart through proper, technical boxing. Pacquiao was forced to evolve from that slugger style into a more complete boxer. After this fight, and every other fight between him and Marquez, you'll see the changes Pacquiao makes in his style of boxing. Such an important fight for both of these athletes. I miss the days when it was Pacquiao versus the entire Mexican boxing hall of fame.

I was at this fight in Vegas. I was wearing a Calgary Flames jersey and sitting beside a dude waving a Mexican flag all night. I remember being pissed because I thought I'd just paid $300 for a first round knockout lol. IMO - Marquez won more rounds but those three knockdowns gave Manny the fight. If the judge, Burt Clements, had scored he first round correctly (10-6) Pacquiao would have won the decision. It was an awesome fight.

It’s funny; you can easily argue that either Pacquiao or Marquez should have won this fight - the one judge should have scored the first round 10-6, so Pacquiao got robbed. But Marquez also may have won 9 or 10 of the 12 rounds, so he sort of got robbed, at least by the 115-110 scorecard for Manny.

Paquiao’s boxing style and strategy was totally disrupted after the 3rd round. He slowed down as never seen in his carreer and kept raising both arms out of frustration. Facts: there was a split draw because a judge forgot to count the 3 KD's and therefore scored 10-7 instead of 10-6. It was Burt Clements, who admitted his mistake. Otherwise he would have had 113-112 and Pacquiao would have won the fight. Judges Guy Jutras and John Stewart scored it as a 10-6 round for Pacquiao. "I just screwed up," said Burt Clements, one of the three judges in the Pacquiao-Marquez fight, who said he should have written 10-6 instead of 10-7 in favor of Pacquiao in the first round. Marquez was one of the toughest Mexican boxers ive watched. Im 46 so maybe there were tougher but from my era anyway. Marquez is like a wounded leopard. He's more dangerous when hurt. He has something a lot of boxers dont and thats survive instinct, will and determination. He got more focused when he took that punishment from Pacquiao in the 1st round. This fight to me was more controversial as well as the 3rd fight. To me the 2nd fight was the more clearer win for Pacquiao. Even though some believe that was controversial too and Marquez was robbed. I think the thing that made Marquez a hard fight for Pacquiao is he knew how to slow him down a bit by counter punching him. When you get hit enough you won't be so quick to rush in unless you like getting punched. Lol. Pacquiao is who he is but if he had a higher IQ he would be unstoppable. He has everything else. Speed, footwork, punching power. Guys like Mayweather, Crawford, Marquez were good at that. They were patient and didnt get frustrated easy

The ABC (Association of Boxing Commissions) referee rules and guidelines does not recognize a 3 knockdown rule. It shouldn’t have been stopped because it was at the complete discretion of the ref and obviously he made the right choice in letting Marquez continue because Marquez made one of the greatest comebacks in Boxing history.

Believe it or not I scored this fight 113-112 for marquez.i scored the first round 10-6 for Pacquiao & had given Pacquiao the second round as well 10-9 but I believe I only gave him one more round after its been while since I scored the fight know I had Marquez winning 113-112. Rounds 7-8-9 were very even how ever Pacquiao came in as chàllenger & Marquez was the champion & general rule in boxing close rounds go to the champion. Great fight best out of their 4 fights,

If the one judge scored the first round 10-6 instead of 10-7 like he did Pacquiao would have won a split decision & that round was a 10-6 round for Pacquiao that is how the other 2 judges scored it & that is how I scored it.

If this is how you score it, then Pacquiao edged it at 113-112. It's a very close fight but shouldn't been a draw. Ps: The judge gave 113-113 admitted that he later realized that he made a mistake giving 10-7 on the 1st round which should have been 10-6.

@Evol1HipHop Didn't have to worry about their 4th & final fight. Both ate P4p greats & both deserve to be in the top 20 p4p greatest of all time. 95% of Boxers Pacquiao beat in his prime he did with ease except Marquez & that's what made their 4 fights worth watching.
