Japan’s pound-for-pound hero is set to headline the biggest boxing event his country has ever seen. Undisputed junior featherweight world champion Naoya “The Monster” Inoue will defend all the belts against Mexican puncher Luis “Pantera” Nery on Monday, May 6 at the Tokyo Dome.
Inoue, a four-weight world champion and two-weight undisputed king, will headline at the iconic venue for the first time.
Inoue-Nery and three additional world title showdowns will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ at 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT. Australia’s WBO bantamweight world champion, Jason “Mayhem” Moloney will defend his belt against rising knockout artist and former kickboxing world champion Yoshiki Takei.
The world title quadruple-header also features WBA bantamweight world champion Takuma Inoue (19-1, 5 KOs), younger brother of Naoya, who defends his title against former world title challenger Sho Ishida (34-3, 17 KOs). And, in a flyweight world title tilt, newly minted WBA world champion Seigo Yuri Akui (19-2-1, 11 KOs) battles Taku Kuwahara (13-1, 8 KOs) in a rematch of their 2021 Japanese title bout, which Akui won by 10th-round TKO.

I remember when he said "the things i scared the most is when people says it will be an easy fight for me" Inoue knows that he was fully prepared enough but still refuses to underestimate his opponents is one of the rarest thing in boxing. Very little people talk about his father,Shingo. Shingo was just an amateur boxer who fought only 2 times. Naoya once said he fights 90% as Shingo tells, 10% as his instinct tells. Shingo is one of the world class best trainers.

After that he (Casimero) couldn't hold on to his belt because he came in overweight and Butler took that title and was upgraded to full champion by the governing body. And do you really believe Casimero is better or are you just backing your fellow countryman? Lets be real about this, who has Casimero beat? Yamanaka got an immediate rematch but Nery blew weight, I think by 5 pounds. He was essentially a featherweight. Japan takes missed weight very seriously. After that mess, which Yamanaka was close to tying a legendary title defense record. Like I said I recommend Office Hancho's video

After watching Hancho's video of why Nery was so hated in Japan for beating Yamanaka forcing him to retire and then later being found out he was usng PEDs, I finally understand why this fight is taking place. Nery's flexible punches can fly one-and-half-fist away than it looks, so there's a possibility for his punch to land the opponent first. Inoue needs to acckowledge the new space perception and keener timing to handle it. Nery will try to win on conditioning as he did with Azat Hovhannisyan to get to the later rounds. Azat hurt Nery several times in the 1st 4 rounds. Inoue won't rush the pace, but he will take what is given. Nery was also very hesitant of Azat's power and chose the back foot approach early. If Azat can hit Nery with power so will Inoue. I expect Nery to be on the canvas early in the fight. Nery willing to die in the ring equates to fight until exhausted. This is what I like about him as a fighter.
