Hilux's don't do much for me, but that is an awesome build. You can tell the owner has really put a lot of time & thought into the mods. And petrol 4x4's are still rad!

I ran a TRD charger on a 2005 prado. At the time it cost $6500 installed and made a unbelievable difference towing, but caused other issues, like over flexing of the motor in the chassis causing the exhausts to alway break/crack. Overall I would say if you need a supercharger, get a different car.

Another great episode Ronny, thanks for all your hard work. A number of times you suggested your limited experience with DIY fabrication. Maybe you could use this to your advantage and collaborate with a fabrication shop for series of basics of welding/fabrication etc. by doing some simple projects for a fourby? There are a many resources on the internet/ youtube for this content already but very few that put it all together in a package similar to what you have done in past for auto elect/ dual batteries. Cheers

I have been under the impression that carrying petrol jerry cans at the rear of a vehicle was illegal, same as gas bottles. Diesel is allowed but not petrol. This is mainly due to the risk of fire from a rear impact.

I thought he’d be a sparky!!! The conduit stuff around everything gave it away! Haha. 500km out of a tank with a supercharged v6 on 305 tyres... and a self proclaimed maniac behind the wheel... that’s pretty good. I drive my Fj (same motor not supercharged) like a grandpa and have 285s and don’t get that economy. Not many do.

Ahhhh the joys of the 4.0 V6 engines. I own a 4L hilux on 265's and have thought about throwing in the towel due to the poor fuel economy but its just too damn fun to drive and a weapon on the beach. Its interesting to hear other owners opinions and thoughts on what can be done to improve the fuel economy but at times i wonder if its worth doing all these things and possibly spending thousands just gain what?? 2-3L per 100ks. I just did a 13500k trip and logged my consumption for the whole trip. Fully loaded I and sitting on 110 on the highway I got an average of 16L/100Ks. What do you get out of the FJ and do you know any owners who have done things that make any major improvments?
@brokenlegz5 жыл бұрын
max dodshon total average over 30000km is 13.3 with 285s lift kit bull bar roof rack all the rest. But I’m rarely loaded and rarely sit on 110. 265 is standard tyres for an Fj. I had all the other mods I do now just standard size tyres. Still mtz though. And it was about 1ltr less. The Fj must be geared better because they don’t seem to be as bad on petrol as hiluxs. But like I said 265 is standard for an Fj so going to 285 isn’t a huge step up. We also have a 3ltr d4d prado. Averages 9 on a good day. After towing an empty car trailer about 30km it’s up to 10.6 😦 the average was reset about 400km before hand. It’s got great power and the low torque is awesome. But I think the offset of buying price and higher servicing, with only slightly better fuel economy, I don’t think there is a clear winner. For me anyway. Maybe diesel by a smidge. As long as nothing goes wrong with it. Lots of Fj owners on the forums go to LPG. but I’m not a fan
