I think if there were any section of the Hayduke to maybe find different routes it might be this one 😅 still, this feels quintessential. This is what I thought the Hayduke would be like the entire way

Respect to you both for completing this section, it looks challenging. It must take a lot of patience and concentration to safely get through. It would be great to hear about how you both keep clear heads when the obstacles keep coming.

Hey Jupiter! Your Hayduke trek with Sprocket looks like an incredible journey! Thank you for your beautiful and informative videos! I was fortunate to meet and briefly hike with you on the CT, after Spring Creek Pass (near Lake City) this past summer. We talked about birds and you asked if I knew the name of the common ground feeding bird that flashes its white tail feathers in flight.. I couldn't think of the name that moment, but later recalled it to maybe be a Dark-Eyed Junco (in sparrow family). You may have already figured that out yourself.

Nice to hike with you for a bit and no I never did figure it out! Still to this day I only ever see them from behind as they are fleeing from me!!

Love what you’re doing, man. Quick tip: consider switching from plastic water bottles to ultralight metal ones like titanium. I had a friend's uncle who got stomach cancer. His oncologist said it was from reusing the same plastic bottle for too long. If you stick with plastic, just avoid the sun and don’t reuse them on multiple trips. Stay safe out there.

I'm really enjoying your videos. Also your take on and attitude towards the harder, less travelled trails. It's a nice change from people complaining about "not enough signs" on the CDT.
@JupiterHikes2 ай бұрын
Do... people complain about that on the CDT? Generally curious. It's known as the hardest of the 'big three' and am surprised
@stpetie76862 ай бұрын
@@JupiterHikes I have heard it. I believe it was from someone who experience only included the AT.

Not that you're going to do this section again, but last year Jamal Green did what could be a Hayduke alt as part of his Grand Escalante Loop. He went up to Mudholes Spring as usual, but then followed the ridge out to Mudholes Point and all the way down into Rogers Canyon. Rim walking for miles, and it looked super scenic.

Loved that guys, real challenges, but you overcame with confidence. I love this part of Utah too. I've hiked some smaller trails during my previous visits from the UK. Sprocket is doing well, doesn't say much though ? Is she enjoying it as much as you ?

Back to my 120mi hike w/ no water…what are your thoughts about pulling a small, as light weight as I can possibly find, snow/sand sled to help carry the water & maybe some gear? I’ve also got 2 water channels I have to cross. I’ve got to pack out a super light weight raft/pack-raft to help cross the channels. It appears the channels are too far & too deep to wade across. The last 1 which creates the island, “S. Padre Island. The adventure just sounds like so much fun! Hike 120mi down Padre Island & S. Padre Island to end w/ a nice hotel room & a margarita on the beach to celebrate the accomplishment!!

is there any way you could tell me what shorts sprocket has on in this video? they seem ideal. i'd love to know more about her whole setup! thanks so much for making these videos

They are some of my old shorts which I got at a thrift store! So nothing specific. Just mens running shorts a size larger than she normally wears

If you have two vehicles, you could stage one on Hole in the Rock Rd. and one on Cottonwood Canyon Rd.

To do Hayduke trail you need seriously hiking experience, it's not for tourists...🤔
