Heavy snow and low temperatures causes disruptions across the country.
Bray Civil Defence were on the road delivering food and medicine to areas cut off by the weather conditions and icy roads. Areas throughout the country were badly hit by ice, snow and freezing temperatures.
Bray Civil Defence set out on roads tonight said by the AA to be uniformly treacherous all over the country.
The freezing weather and dangerous roads mean many schools will remain closed tomorrow. Parents and staff have been asked to contact school authorities to check on closures. People have been advised not to travel unless their journey is absolutely necessary.
Last night's big freeze up made for some very adventurous motoring today.
Roads across the country were virtually empty as motorists avoided the treacherous conditions. Many bus and rail services were also affected by the road conditions.
While the countryside may have looked picturesque, the beauty may have been lost on the truck drivers who have had to abandon their vehicles or villagers in Donegal who have been cut off.
The diggers and gritters were out throughout the country in an attempt to make roads passable. There were complaints from many that it was too little too late with only half of Dublin Corporation's trucks out today. However, the corporation said that they do not normally go out on a Sunday at all.
While many sporting fixtures have been cancelled, some people took to the ski slopes on the Dublin mountains.
