I skipped the glue, didn't think it was needed. Two screws worked great. Up and running. Did over an hour tonight with no problems. Only change I made was doing it right IN the treadmill. Just loosened the belt and pulled it off to the side.

Great Video, I will call this a genius idea!! Did you drill a hole in the metal roller also to drive the screw? Also is this screw a sheet metal screw? A link to similar item will be very much appreciated.. Thank you
@ravikulthiaful4 жыл бұрын
Actually I put some liquid electrical tape between the pulley and the shaft and that worked well for me.. So basically i took the pulley off by gently hammering with handle of a screwdriver and then put a good layer of electrical tape on the metal part of the shaft.. Then slid the pulley by gently hammering with the back of a screwdriver.. let it dry for a couple of hours... Worked fine for me so far..

Cool beans. I was just starting to google to see if the pulley was supposed to spin free of the drum.
@AndyNorrisForReals7 жыл бұрын
Ok, so the gorilla glue doesn't hold it, and the drum was too difficult to get a sheet metal screw started. I couldn't get a guide hole started with a metal boring bit. I went ahead and ordered a new one for $106. Thanks for the idea, anyway.

Awesome video !!! after almost giving up because I tried literally everything. I saw your video and BANG it was exactly the problem. Mine actually shimmied over about 1 in. So I tapped it back to where it should be drove a screw in and I’m running on it again 15 yrs old and works like a charm again. Thanks for posting it you saved me a ton. A repairman would have probably charged me $500 to $700.or $1500 for a new one !!! You are the man !!

The problem is cause by the little pin falling out, the cause is the motor belt pulling the wheel to the right and the pin becoming loose and falling out. Did you ever find a small t shape pin and wondered what it was for ?

How is you repair holding up. I am in need of a replacement as well but I want to try this before spending $130. How often is it being used since its been repaired. Thanks in advance.

Just what I was looking for. I though about taking the pulley off and wrapping tape around the roller and forcing the pulley back on, but I think this might work better.
@nomislove4 жыл бұрын
Look for the small pin that fell out, it stops the plastic pully wheel from moving.

My treadmill roller stops when i put my weight on it . Like the pulley will keep going but the roller stops. You have the same peoblem ?
@bbgstudios8 жыл бұрын
If the pulley is completely disconnected from the roller so that your weight stops the belt and roller while the pulley keeps spinning with the belt (around the stopped roller) then it sounds like the fix in the video may address the problem.
@kimstacy71546 жыл бұрын
how do you get the pulley out I loosened the walking belt but don't see any screws in the front to unscrew the pulley out
@bbgstudios6 жыл бұрын
Kim Stacy if the pulley is not loose then your issue may not be with the pulley. Most pulleys are glued and if loose will slide off easily. My fix uses screws that were not there previously. Hope that answers your question.

I have a question. I’m having that same issue. How did you get the roller off?

Would you mind walking me through how you removed the front pully?
@bbgstudios6 жыл бұрын
If the pully is slipping then is should just slide off. If it is not then you probably don't need to do this.
@mydogs46574 жыл бұрын
How did you know where to put pulley back ( how far from the edge of the roller)? Are there markings? ( thanks for reply!)
@bbgstudios4 жыл бұрын
There were no markings on mine. I would recommend marking it before permanently gluing, perhaps by putting it back on the treadmill while it freely slides and marking it up with the belt aligned.

7 months later, still working perfectly. It's a permanent fix. Honestly don't know why they don't secure them out of the factory.

@jrh64665 жыл бұрын
Was your pulley totally loose? Did you slide the pulley to the side apply the glue then slide pulley back over the glue? I need to do the same thing but my pulley is not totally loose, it has just moved over some. Thanks for the very good video.
@bbgstudios5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think I drilled the holes first, slid it to the side, applied the glue, and then slid it back and screwed it down.
@bbgstudios5 жыл бұрын
You want to make sure the pulley is in the right place before gluing it. Try it with just the screws first. If it works good then unscrew, apply the glue, and screw it back together. That is the best strategy, IMO
@jrh64665 жыл бұрын
@@bbgstudios I have not tried to move my pulley. I am afraid that the plastic will crumble. My pulley seems to be pretty tight and still turns the belt. The trouble is it has moved inward about 3/8 of an inch, and is only on the motor pulley about 1/2 of the pulley and about the same on the roller pulley. It needs to be moved out about 3/8 inch. Is the pulley installed with some kind of glue from the factory? I have considered putting some kind of ring or support behind the pulley and trying to pull it out with a bearing puller. Do you know if you can purchase the pulley as a separate item?
@bbgstudios5 жыл бұрын
@@jrh6466 I don't know what they use in the factory. My glue step is completely optional for the fix I present. If your pulley is not slipping the belt then my fix probably won't help. I suppose if you can get the pulley moved over the 3/8 inch you could put a little glue around the seem to make it stay in place, but I haven't had that problem so I cannot say for sure.
@jrh64665 жыл бұрын
@@bbgstudios Thanks very much for your replies. My pulley was tight enough that it turned the belt without any trouble but the pulley had slid inward about 3/8 of an inch. As a result the belt was only a little more than 1/2 way on the two pulley's. I thought that the pulley would be difficult to move over but I took a gear puller and the pulley moved over with no trouble. I am now going to try the roller with the pulley moved over and if it is aligned as it should be then I will move pulley back over with glue under it. I will use 30 minute epoxy to give me more time to move pulley. I have no idea how pulley was able to turn belt with it as loose as it was. It makes me think that the pulley has a keyway in it with a key but I did not see one. I will also put the screws in as you suggest. Anyway thanks very much for the info. You tubes are a great help now days.

@gusg.40955 жыл бұрын
Hi, there is no danger that the screw is shot like a bullet?
@bbgstudios5 жыл бұрын
The fix is still working great over two years later. Self tapping screws should be plenty secure but you can always add a drop of the glue to them to ease your mind.
