You guys are super cool. Marianne is a fantastic driver and Chris does a great job of the camera work. India is my favourite country. I am an Aussie from down under and have travelled to India 26 times over 40 years. I started in 1984 with my late husband who also fell in love with India. I’m in my late 70’s now and still try to get to lndia twice per year. It is definitely like being on another planet. I had to drive once on the Grand Trunk Rd. 30 years ago before the tollways. I found it to be exciting and dangerous at the same time. If you ever get back to Gujurat half way from the Rajasthan border to Amedabad there is a place called Balisinor and you can visit the palace there and meet the Dinosaur Princess who is the custodian of 40 acres of land with Dinosaur remains still embedded in the ground. It is an ancient Dinosaur hatchery. It’s amazing. Princess Aaliya is a wonderful person with so much knowledge about the hatchery passed on from her late father. We were charged 500rps for a guided tour with the Princess for two hours and then lunch at the palace for 350rps ahead. It was about 5 different dishes and so tasty. I found her online by accident. Keep up the great work and stay safe. Di

On the topic of the Indian highway code: I took a theory test in Thailand to get my license. There were no questions about signs, road markings or rules. It was all about strategies for not getting into accidents. There are three fundamental principles: do not hit anyone else; do not cause anyone to hit you; do not cause anyone to hit anyone else. Speed limits and signs are not observed but if there is an accident, they are taken into account when assigning responsibility.

21:00 slow lane is fast lane due to a reason/problem in india, actually their is no proper footpath/sidewalk at most of the places and no proper partition also between people walking and the left side of highways, and if some slow vehicle(ex. truck) wants to cruise at a slow speed peacefully then they have to move sticking with the divider(and thats now become a habit too). if someone sees a place where people are not walking on left, you overtake the truck from left. if you are a motorcyclist, then you can easily overtake from left. overtaking from left is not very ideal, but thats due to poor markings/partitions, almost non existent footpaths. Imagine that a truck is moving on the left lane, and suddenly there are pedestrians walking on the left side, and the same time a big bus decides to overtake from right, then that truck is sandwiched between pedestrians and bus, creating a very dangerous situation. So, the onus of taking care of not hitting pedestrians while overtaking is on the overtaking bus driver, and the truck driver can keep moving sticking to the divider peacefully without thinking.

Love your experience!! I've spent about 4 months in India over the past two years and I love it. You should have spent more time there!!! Marianne is an excellent driver to have adapted to the Indian "style" of motoring. Traffic rules are merely a loosely followed " suggestion". FYI I think the gathering is likely related to the recent election.

According to Wikipedia, the peafowl (chickenus discotechia) *does in fact* originate from the Indian subcontinent! Wow, how about that! With Mimi and I watching the video, that makes four of us total going "Whooaaahhh" over all those bumps! 😫😫 Good ol' trusty Trudy! 🚐💪 Liked all the safety signage! "Better 'Late' Than 'Never'" was my favorite. Doing the maths in my head, you guys were averaging 25 mph with the traffic and roadworks, etc. 😮‍💨😮‍💨 That concrete checkpoint chicane was a bit mad! Wooph, after the last push into Mumbai, I wanted a stiff drink just watching! I settled for an ice-cold Diet Coke, though. ❤️❤️😎👍xx

My god you guys have a lot of patience. The highway north of Mumbai is notorious for traffic because the trucks from JNPT port in Mumbai take the goods to other states up north. So a expressway is on the works which should bypass the city from the port and take all the trucks out of this highway. You already rode in that expressway in some of the stretch @35:13 . It will go all the way from Delhi to Mumbai and should reduce the travel time to 12 hours "theoretically".

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." ~ Mark Twain 'The Innocents Abroad' - Truly fascinating journey to be a part of! At 43:00 thank you Marianne for the insights, it was interesting for even for veteran viewers. I do hope that when completed Chris and possibly even an outside filmmaker can produce a reel what it was like for you to drive around the world, your, how you managed it, tips for other adventures and what it meant for you as a driver. A short documentary with interviews of you and Chris and highlight clips could be great as well. BTW: I included a quote above many consider to be the world's first viral travel blogger from the 19th century offered quote form his first travel book that inspired me to discover the magic traveling the globe, and I thought it might be one you might care to share.

In answer to your question- Peacocks, peahens and all Peafowl originated in India. South India, I think. One hopes you had some good South Indian food while you were there? My favorite!!! For reasons I don’t understand, in every Indian Restaurant that I have been to, their curry is so hate that you can’t taste anything else unless you get a little rice with no sauce on it. And I grew up on excellent New Mexico green chile that can be hotter than pickled jalapeños, but with excellent flavor. But the curries are more spice than I can handle. Then I had some South Indian food in Columbus Ohio and my world changed. One hopes things cooled down some when you got to Mumbai! It was 108F (41 or 42C) where I am and it felt like it! I checked, when you uploaded the video and it was 99 at night(!) in Rajasthan, but it said it felt like 110. I am curious how hot it got in the afternoon. I can’t figure out how it felt hotter in the middle of the night there? It’s not because the sun is beating down on you, so I am clueless. I don’t think I have ever seen that before. But the weather app doesn’t show it getting hotter than 99 for the next five days. A puzzle that will keep me awake thinking when I should be sleeping! It’s a pile, though. I said that. Great video! Thanks!

Go with the one who enjoys driving! I always prefer driving! I’m a terrible passenger (really bad)…think it’s a control thing for me. Our family rule… whoever drives is in charge of the music. If you’re a Taylor Swift fan… you’re definitely in the wrong car. If you like Cream, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd… you’re gonna enjoy. I prefer to drive my own style. Safety, comfort and entertaining. After driving in India… Vicodin and Single Malts! Cheers

I love Indian music, what a treat! 👳🏼‍♀️🎶 I'm sorry you're getting so many whiny comments about the "boring" driving videos from viewers who don't understand you're on a deadline and must make good time, as China rejected the visa and you had to do a detour.... some people sure feel entitled to dictate youtubers on how to run their channels when they just have to sit there and enjoy the free entertainment you spend so much time filming and editing! 🤨🥴 The vast majority of us very much appreciate you, thank you for the privilege of taking us along on your world trip! ❤❤ 🙏🏼🐄 🦚

That is NOT Indian music you hear in their video. its British version of something resembling Indian music. Its a "CRINGE" version of a generic "Indian bollywood music"

That was nucking futs. Animals just wandering on highways. Dual carriageway way means whichever side of the road you think is quicker... I don't think they have a highway code. Mind you how many languages do they have in India, something would definitely be lost in translation... Well done Marianne, not surprised you needed a lie down in a dark room after that. And to think I hate driving my 2023 plated Fiat Ducato chassis cab in Edinburgh...

I think you saved the best till last! I couldn't stop laughing at the antics of the other traffic - it explains a lot about what I encounter in a 3.5 ton truck for work on a daily basis trying to pick my way through some of the more "interesting" areas of Birmingham & the West Mids. Except what you encountered is obviously more extreme. Certain "traits" of drivers I encounter seem to have been copied from things we see in this video. You can't get stressed by it, you just have to laugh at it & just when you think you've seen it all some driver does something even more extreme! I reckon many seem to think they are still in Mumbai, not in UK. I usually just treat is as a challenge now, a bit of fun! Well done Marianne for coping with so many hours of it! Almost makes me want to try driving in India!

There's one thing that I've learned while watching your travels, and that's the fact that I will never be going to India! No offense to anyone from there, but it looks filthy with trash everywhere. And the crazy driving on those horrible roads would have me in a permanent state of panic. Oh, the ptsd I'd have!

Thank you for not coming to India. We do like to keep ignorant and hateful racists with inferiority complex out. No offence to any racists out there either.
