I appreciate this effort Greg. I've devoted many years, since 1982, to this area. As a matter of fact I was a camp host at Picacho last fall. We're one of those that drive the Picacho road towing a boat. Yea more than once we've had trailer issues due to the condition of that road. It's a go slow if you tow road to say the least. The location is a treasure in and of itself for fishing, hunting, history and prospecting.

Thanks for the comments and we both know how rugged some of the country is along the river or getting to it. Love the history of the area.

New subscriber here. I live in Yuma and have been all over that area. This is the first I've heard of this. Now it's going to be on my mind when we go up the river. You may also look into John glanton. He took over a ferry back during the gold rush and being the Indian killer he was he was killed by the natives around pilot knob but only after he buried his gold in the sand dunes to the southwest. That place is probably in Mexico...

Hey Greg, Just got your book today and thumbed through it a bit. I do a little treasure hunting about 20 miles north of there near the old Taylor Ferry landing. Looking for the Roods Treasure and found what we believe is the Sunlit Cave of Spanish lore. Just want you to know that a lot of us enjoy your hard work. Keep it up.

@@randomtangents5204 ever us a metal detector out there?
@ralphbosse7794
@ralphbosse7794 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomshively5419 I have many times Tom. Albeit the state park is off limits there are quartz outcroppings and veins through out the location. Again most are on the California side of the river and in the state park. A boat with a push pole, machete and or chain saw will allow access to hundreds of acres of shoreline inaccessible by foot. The carrizo cane lining the bank is almost impenetrable.

As you are not prospecting I think it is alright. It is a gray area on their rules and you are not taking artifacts.

The nearest treasure story I have so far in California is the Lost Meteorite close to Desert Center. I hope to have another video coming soon telling of a story south of Las Vegas on the border between Nevada and California. Thanks for the question. Greg Hawk

That was a great video I’m looking forward to seeing more Have you ever heard the lost treasure story of the sun lit cave near Yuma It was a cave that can only be seen from the Colorado river at a certain time of day and time of year when the sun lit up the entrance It was supposedly filled with Jesuit gold
