Yoshi is Korean by blood (his ancestors moved to Japan from Korea 4 generations ago), which is called zainichi in Japanese. He's said he considers both Japan and Korea to be his homelands. He's even done tae kwon do before and entered in competitions with the Korean name Kim Bangjeon (both Yoshinori and Bangjeon are his names, like how western idols have an English name and Korean name). It's unclear whether he has Korean citizenship or Japanese citizenship, but it's not possible for him to have both because neither country allows dual citizenship. Some people say that his Korean is better than the other J-line members, but still not native fluency.

He said that while his nationality is Japanese, he’s ethnically Korean but the words used may have made it confusing to people because nationality was used interchangeably in the translation when ethnicity would have been more accurate to describe heritage. He’s 4th generation so it seems unlikely that he would attempt to claim Korean citizenship without any direct family who also have Korean citizenship

1 reason why I know Treasure had good chemistry is that Asahi..During YgTB he had hard time speaking or understanding Korean..1 reasln ehy despite him being introvert mis communication made him more introvert...Like during the preparation of YGTB that is just a month before YGTB 1st ep release he enter YG..So he don't learn Korean much before maybe just a few like how we are a fan of K-pop and know some Korean . But then when their debut came that's within 1 and half year he is really2 fluent..No lie surpass even many kpop foreign senior who are in the industry for years n years . Yoshi, Haruto and Shiho too..Remember during YGTB Yoshi was the most fluent one but he was still not good Thing is despite learning our surrounding i.e Friends whome we interact everyday are very imp . Like even I when i was in North India the place where in India everybody speaks Hindi..I try learning but even after 4 years of staying I was not fluent coz people always speaks to me in english even when I told thm..Then I met a friend who will speak to me only in Hindi everyday even when I don't understand he told me to google...That within a year I surpass all my friends who were fluent than me before..Thats the power of good friendship..Learningbis good but having someone to have conversation is best way to kearn
