Thanks bro I let it flow and even though there was a lot of trash I think it was a pretty good one too.... I am going to hit the park and clean up all the aluminum with the simplex soon see if I can snipe something in the process... You should go out and try a mid and low tone day at the park 👍 only of matter of time until we swing over it and decide to dig it up... sometimes I wonder if I have swung over gold before saying nah just some foil... Run your balance at 00.0 and should be able to run one bar down from max on dry sand. In the saltwater the same but bump the sensitivity down. Try using the small coil in the water too. It is much quieter. However, a good detectorist will tell you that they prefer to hear the machine reacting to the ground as well. A light background noise is a good thing.
@TreasureOutdoors
@TreasureOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
You are spot on man, I found at this beach I can run stock 90 ground balance in the dry and pump the sensitivity way up and it does really well but as soon as you get into the wet definitely run that ground balance at 0. And I agree with you 100% on the small SP24 coil it does much better noise wise, not nearly as much chatter.

For wet sand/ocean you'll want to use beach mode, and then MANUALLY ground balance to zero. That will make the Simplex+ much more stable in salt water conditions. Great videos by the way! I'm a subscriber!

@@TreasureOutdoors Thanks for the reply. I love your videos and I have watched a lot of them. I really like that you always make sure to show VDI numbers with any of your machines. I also like your tests. I would like to know what part of Florida (I'm guessing Florida) you live in. Also, it would be nice to know your first name... maybe occasionally introduce yourself in your vids. BTW, I really like your electric dirt bike! I'm an electronics Engineer and I also teach engineering at a local college. Maybe do a couple of videos about your bike...if it was a kit, or conversation, etc. I'm also a plant lover, so I like your plant vids too. I have a few other metal detectors aside from my Simplex, but since I got it I don't use the older ones much... including my White's V3i. I love that Simplex...got the carbon fiber shaft and the SP24 coil too. I don't live near the beach, but I've watched many videos of guys who use the Simplex on the beach and they all found that ground balancing to zero and using field mode works best for wet sand & salt water. Thanks again for the reply! Keep cranking out the great videos!

Just got my first detector today (Simplex). I've watched several of your videos and was curious why you don't use the pin point function after you hit a target? You don't seem to have any problems locating things quickly even without using it. Just wondering if its something I should try to learn using while I'm starting out or if it's really not that important. Defiantly a lot to learn with this hobby. I usually try to find old house foundations and look in the woods around it to find their old glass dump pits. Finally decided after 25 yrs of digging to get a metal detector to look for the metal goodies I'm probably missing in the same areas. Just watching you use the machine in the field helps me to understand a lot more about how to use (or not use) the discrimination settings. Heading to Nags Head from Western PA next week to try it out at on the beaches also. Probably not the easiest place to learn. But , this video should help a lot. Thank you.
@TreasureOutdoors
@TreasureOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Now that is awesome!! I just want to start off by saying you have gotten yourself a great first machine to start with!! Now.. it may take some time to learn so do not get discouraged. I personally do not use the pin point feature as I find sometimes it confuses me as to where the target actually is and takes more time to use... though some people have luck using it. What I love to do and what works for me nearly every time is swinging the coil over the target and backing it up just enough until it stops beeping... that way you know your target is going to be right in front of your coil. It may take a little bit of learning to get the "sweet spot" but I think not having to mess around with the pinpoint button saves you time and in the long run you will end up pulling up more targets from the ground! But in the end it comes down to preference and what works best for you 👍 I really think you are going to get on to some metal goodies just keep optimistic out there and get familiar with your machine! Good luck! I am really glad to hear some of my videos helped you along!

@@TreasureOutdoors I was out with the Simplex when youth posted your reply as a matter of fact! I love this machine! It's maybe not as clear on some targets as my Ace 400, mostly because thr Simplex can be more discerning and gives me more data that I'm not always sure how to interpret. But it has found AMAZING relics and jewelry that all of my other beginner machines have missed. Objects that were in the ground for 70 years...

I heard you can tell the difference between "good" targets and like junk by locating the Target in the center of your coil then moving it to the side and then using the side to detect the target. If the target has a high range of ID then it's more likely junk I heard not to sure can u verify?

Hi. Thanks for this video. Unfortunately, my brother and I have had a number of issues with our Simplex units. I had some success on grassland and ploughed fields but noticed that both of our units would bleep at the end of a `swing`. Each swinging movement rendered a bleep if done quickly or if it caught a little grass or a clump. On sand it just seemed not to have any sense at all. It was constant false signal. I ground balanced several times in wet and dry sand but could not get it to register even my car key at 6 inches. My brother went to another beach and had the same problems. We got our units at the same supplier and are quite disappointed after all the amazing reviews we read before-hand. We were also disappointed that the Simplex+ headphones were not waterproof considering the price. Any idea about the problems we`ve been having anybody, please?

Get out there and have fun! I would say the most important part is being optimistic and try not to get frustrated.. sometimes the simplex has a hard time being quiet at the beach so it will make noise even if there is no target there.. if that happens you can try to set the ground balance to 0 in the settings menu (it's default to 90) but only do that if the simplex is making a lot of false noises... just get out there and get familiar with it the more you go out and the more targets you dig up out of the ground the better chance you will have at finding the treasure 👍

When you say it’s a coin signal, can you elaborate? How do you discriminate based on noise and or numbers? Does the depth of the item effect ability to discriminate (you and the machine)

WOW! I am wondering if the gold chain could still be in the hole... if the simplex was not sensitive enough to pick it up... because the loop on the pendant is not broken or bent so I do not see how it could have come off the necklace without the necklace breaking...

Nice hunt, Congrats on the gold !!! Question : What was the VDI on that ?
@TreasureOutdoors
@TreasureOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hard to tell, I tried watching it back it looks like it's bouncing low 20s but I also saw some higher VDI in there like 50-60s I was thinking it was 99.9%% another piece of trash!! At this point I am thinking I need to go back and check that exact spot because the pendant clasp was not bent to me that means the only way it could have come off of a necklace was if the necklace broke and the pendant came off or someone took the necklace off and the pendent slid off. I can almost guarantee if the chain was petite and gold the simplex would not have heard it unless it was legitimately right on top of the surface. Thank you so much I am stoked I'm almost positive it's gold but you can never get your hopes up too soon even if it's marked gotta test it... plan to make a little video of it tomorrow. Maybe your simplex isn't as good at the beach because... You drag the coil through the sand also slapping the coil in & out of the water which the owners manual says not to do or may result in falsing noises, read the owners manual... I only see you drag the simplex coil, you don't do that with your minelab machines...why not? If your going to critique a machine at least use it properly so as not to look disingenuine.
