Wow, I showed my whole family this and we were all shocked that the stuff we got rid of while moving actually ended up with someone! I recognized the charizard card and harry potter card immediately. I have a story for pretty much every item you showed in the video lol! There a bunch of random things b/c we had a big nerdy family into everything you could imagine. It seems like most of our stuff stayed together, how cool. It made us all reminisce about the time around when we still had these things. For some reason I want to thank you! Your videos are super interesting and this little coincidence made me want to subscribe!

The Kay Day coin is a metal typer lucky arcade token. There are no two of them alike, because the machine made each coin customizable to a point. They were pretty popular in the sixties and seventies, sort of like customizable dog tags that came later on. They used to have tons of those machines around amusement parks and outside practically every Woolworth store. Most are worth anywhere from 2 to 20 bucks now, the rarest ones being the red ones. You got a 5 buck one.

The pocket watch movement was purchased first, back then, and usually taken to a case maker/jeweler to put it in a case. That's why the different serial numbers. The watch movement serial number is on the movement itself. Also the case is called a "Double Hunter".

That "Kay Day" good luck token looks like its from an old arcade style machine similar to the souvenir penny roller things you see everywhere now. You would put like 25-50 cents in and then choose what letters you wanted, and the machine would use dies to punch the letters into the token. I've used the machine before, looks just like it.

The pocket knife, if not mother of pearl, usually white colours and the inside of a shell, or abalone may well be Paua from New Zealand. Im a knife collector and have one just the same that was made in NZ. They were tourist items in the 60s - 70s. Paua is similar to abalone. Its the lining of one of our native shellfish and very beautiful and highly coloured when polished. Blues and greens with streaks of other colours. Its used a lot in tourist items here

Put beads or stones to your upper lip; if they feel cold and stay cold they are not glass, but actual stone. The black beads look like Jet or Onyx. A tip, always study your black stones, black opals are worth more than gold and are very, very rare!!!!

Be sure the "plastic" older jewelry isn't Bakelite as it is very valuable. It is heaver than plastic and denser. Check to see if the lightest plastic necklaces have W. Ger., or W Germany on the metal clasps. The metals are very very light and I can't recall what it is made off but it seems post WWII metal. The W German jewelry is usually nature or mid century design and very colourful. It is all very light as it was sent back for trade via the air flights from delivering foods etc. need in W. Germany. They and other items for trade were shipped back rather than haul empty planes home for more food shipments. Planes were the only way anything could be delivered post WWII when Berlin was divided East from West as a compromise. Once the Berlin wall was taken down regular transportation allowed regular items so they stopped making this.

I bought a bag full of jewelry from Savers thrift store and was rummaging through it when I came across a pin made with a 2" perrana 🐟. It made me mad so I took it back to the store. Same store I found a gold house with a car in the driveway with ruby and sapphire flowers. It was about 1"×1" in a plastic bag marked $2.99. I looked on the back for 14K but couldn't see anything. The back wasn't smooth but had wavy designs, the kind that they put on cheap jewelry in the 25c plastic cups by the gumball machines. It looked real. I put it back two times then looked real close and they had put the 14K in the wavy texture making it totally camouflaged. A coin dealer gave me $120 for it.

💔 sad to see a 1800's key wind pocket watch in that condition. They usually only run around $50-160 in that condition but they're still a pretty cool piece of history. Usually if you see that hole in the back it's for a key that would be used for winding the watch and that was replaced with stem winding in about the early 1900's.

Oh my, i’d be happy to try. By the way, non-gold and non-silver falls in the range of “costume” jewelry which can be expensive and collectible. On this video, I would mention that a ruby is very expensive and rare. A garnet is also red but I would think that both would more likely be set in gold so as to match the quality of the gem. I suspect your ring has a glass stone, however. The bauble you note as “jade”is green, but it seems on my screen to be garish and I suspect it could be plastic. There is a fascinating tale delight and artistry concerning vintage and antique jewelry.
