This is, by far among all the videos I've seen about bias tape making, the MOST HELPFUL! And the tape is continuous! I'm tearing up a little. Thank you for sharing! What a gem of a sewing tip!

Simplicity really is a gift. I am going to concur with allot of the comments on this page that this tutorial is by far the easiest, simplest most straight up tutorial for bias tape. I watched one tutorial years ago in the early days of KZbin and it was so complicated and freaked me out with is complexity that it took me 15+ years to revisit making my own bias tape. Thanks so much.

Ive tried this method with other teachers and it always confounds me after cutting my square into two triangles. This video is perfectly done showing which sides go together and how to connect the parallelogram sides! Thank you soooooo much. It all makes sense now. I also appreciate the no talking. Sometimes talking just makes it worse. The use of hands and diagrams is awesome. I will be subscribing and watching more from you. :)

I don't usually comment, but obviously I'm not the only one who thinks your bias tape video is the best...easy to follow...and no annoying blabbing or stalling around by the one making it, and I never once had to fast forward! A+++++++ And I definitely followed you 1 minute into the video!!! Thanks. I've got several yards to make and will use this as my go-to tut. 😽

Hi Dixie, I was near tears this morning after using my seam ripper twice to undo the seam on the continuous bias tape I was unsuccessfully trying to make. Yours is the only video that showed me exactly what to do and was easy to follow along. Marking the fabric at the halfway point and matching up the points is what led me to success. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge. Linen tops finished with bias tape, here I come!

This is the best, simplest, and gratefully the fastest tutorial of making continuous bias tape. When I found it without verbal instructions I thought ut-ho, but that's it's secret sauce. Thank you so much for the demonstration. I have always wondered how to do it. Where can I get the instrument for making the folds and what is it called?

Great video! I've watched so many on this topic and this was the first Eureka! moment for me. You're a great teacher. Can you tell me how much 1/2" double fold bias tape a fat quarter makes?

How do you figure what size square to start with for the amount of binding you need?

Hi Judith, sorry I dont' have a quilt calculator on my site yet (added to my idea list!) but if you google quilt binding calculator there are a number of online calculators. It depends on the width of your strips and the amount of wastage. Smaller fabrics will have a greater percentage of wastage. I always use a minimum of a fat quarter size.
