Theres a channel called , The Bearded Mechanic and he swears by evaporust . Real nice guy with a sense of humor . I've even been lucky enough to have met him an ridden with him . Not trying to promote another channel per they tube rules . Just sharing passion .

Evaporaust is very expensive for this task! From long experience, you are much better off using Bilt Hamber DEOX-C, much cheaper and does the same thing. Buy a fish tank heater and drop it inside at around 20 deg. C to speed up the process.

Seems a pay of a fath And is it re-usable and available in the UK ?

Interesting video, Dood. Rust and dirty fuel have their effect over time, so thank you for posting. Being a cheapskate, I'd probably try Coke first, though that might not be as powerful today as is was back in the 50's/60's/70's. 👍

Weren’t a two stroke then it would certainly be advised for the exhaust The engine is running fine but try given it’s SV design it will build up carbon

@@bikerdood1100 Fair enough. Back in the day, I used to use caustic soda to decoke the exhaust pipe and silencer on my two-strokes. Worked ok and helped keep the weeds down in the garden, too. 😀

Had a look round to try and find out the active ingredients in evaporust. Turns out it's primarily phosphoric acid, which makes sense as its purpose is to turn the iron oxide into iron phosphate, and hopefully also to create a passivation layer of iron phosphate on the inside surface of the fuel tank. I suspect diet coke would work just as well as it contains a fair concentration of phosphoric acid. Ultimately though, is it's a bike you don't run too often, the answer may be to avoid ethanol fuel, as that ethanol is just going to mix with any water in the air and start the whole process again. Maybe adding fuel stabiliser would help. I haven't read up on it all for many years, but isn't there also coatings that can be applied to the inside of the tank? I remember POR15 used to do one but I don't know if there are better alternatives now.

Well in general when not in use we empty and dry it Some coatings don’t like modern fuels so we try to avoid them if possible
