Cheap Homesteading is doing his fall treatment for Varroa Mite. He is doing a slow release method. You use ziploc bags and meat absorbent pads and formic acid. It is a simple way to treat for Varroa mites. The treatment will take 21 days. You have to treat your beehives throughout the year to keep the Varroa Mite population Under control or they won’t make the winter.

Hi Pete, Hope your hives survive the winter this year. It would be great not to have to start all over again in the spring. Take Care

Hello Pete, that is a lot to learn about bee keeping. I will definitely be revisiting your videos on bee keeping if I decide to start some hives. Thanks for sharing this. Have a Blessed Day Friend. Justin

Any results? Did you lose any queens? What was your mite count before and mite count after?

hi Pete do you open the bottom for extra ventilation and do you preform a mite count prior to treatment also do you lose many queens operating your treatment this way. ?

I run screen bottom board, so I have enough ventilation for that. But if you don’t, you should open up the bottom more. Depending where you are temperature has the biggest effect on the bees and queen die off. during the first three days of your treatment it shouldn’t be too hot. Where I am, it’s a colder climate, so I have those cooler spells even in the summer. I monitor Mike loads in the spring and summer. Make sure it doesn’t get away for me and only treat if I need to. But you should treat before fall anyways. Last year. I was frustrated and didn’t treat and I had 100% make it through the winter so who knows have a great day.
