I don't know what part of America you folks live in. Where I'm from an emergency room will tend to a bleeding patient immediately and they don't ask for an insurance card until the issue has been tended to. And insurance is quite easy to obtain if you bother to work. And until fairly recently we had the freedom to not pay for a thing if we didn't want it and the freedom to deal with the results of that choice. We're working on getting that one back.
