Can I ask? I currently taking 4 combination of antibiotics (Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide and Ethambutol) it is my third week taking that but I notice when I spit sputum, it has blood tinged. Is it the antibiotics are not effective?

It can come back if they don't fully finish the treatment. I.e., if you only kill most of the disease, the person can look better but eventually get sick again. Plus the last bacteria to die are the strongest so if you leave those behind the next time they get sick it will be even harder to treat. That's why they always tell you to take the full treatment even after you feel well.

Great vid, thanks alot Isn't Ethambutol bacteriostatic drug? Why is it used at the intensive phase?
@lindseytermini5183
@lindseytermini5183 5 жыл бұрын
Abdullah Ethambutol is mainly used in the beginning (initiation phase) of treatment in case the sensitivities come back as resistant to INH or RIF. If the organism is pan-sensitive, EMB is usually d/c

Around 08:20 you talk about "Compliance" and this seems to be strange to me unless your dealing with a child or somebody with mental disability. Because If an adult doesn't understand taking there medication will result in death is pushing them further really necessary because somebody who isn't compliant knowing death might be near if they don't comply then they probably don't care much about their life anyway and something else might kill them (Like crossing the street on a red light knowing you could get hit by a car if you do) because I would have to assume they simply don't care about living. My point is if your putting resources into pushing compliance I think the people that want to live will comply and anything other than "Take these meds or you will die" as a cue for them to follow and comply then any further resources put into that is wasted money/time/resources that would be better spent on people that actually want to live. Maybe i'm missing something.

If the therapy is succesful you are all clear?Like a "virgin"?All bacteria eradicated?Not even 1 mycobacterium exists in your body?Or is there still the danger of many years later some mycobacteria left somewhere in your body due to a factor (like for e.g immunosuppresion) will reactivate again causing a new cycle?

How does treatment work tho? What happens? Do they lock them up or do they just go the docotor for 1 hour get treated then go home then come back tomorrow?
@junbh2
@junbh2 4 жыл бұрын
Usually they can go home and come back.
@junbh2
@junbh2 4 жыл бұрын
They go home and come back. The doctors and nurses have all kinds of ways to encourage them to keep coming back. They try very hard to makes sure the patient understands WHY they have to keep coming back. They can also do things like give them bus fare, feed them dinner when they come, let them come at a different time that's easier for them, etc.
