Holy crap. Not one drop of snake oil. It is so rare to get quality information on this subject. 'Helpful' does not do justice. It is enlightening and and extremely encouraging to know there are people like this working towards a viable treatment. This is the sort of research that changes lives. Every step forward, everything that adds to the body of knowledge on this subject is laudable.

I have tinnitus for over 5 years. Somatic for sure as I can modulate it moving my jaw and neck. Most of the time it is very loud. It totally ruined my life. No help from any specialist. It turned on fight or fly syndrome in me. Very strong anxiety. Its constant and debilitating, emotionally painful. Hard to start each day. However I have young kids so the show must go on. I cant give up. I hope they find something before I do. Stay strong my brothers and sisters. Please remember you are not alone. There is many like us. On the happy note even though its tough I still run family and pretty serious international business. So yes! We can do it! Its just harder.

The problem is, the medical profession works like a closed shop union. If you are an outsider to the medical professions, you stand little chance of working with them. Even if you had the solution to cure tinnitus, they would rebuff you. I fainted with upper hives came out on my upper body & as A PACKAGE ringing in the ears came down with Chronic Fatigue syndrome/migraines/Fibromyalgia/and dizziness, & some days Vertigo.... Went to Los Angels Ear institute. Then again 1982. No, Doctor could help me. I raised two sons & continued working to raise them because I did not want to live in a car. A 6 yr.old & 12 yr. old. FORTY FOUR years ahead now.... November to Dec. 2021. Migraines/ headaches were lasting 2 to 3 weeks, but it turned out to be Covid... My son took me to the hospital ... I thought I had dementia & had a MRI NO Dementia but I get lost driving & the RINGING IS a HIGHER pitch. Doctors have not come up with any solutions & now we are in 2023. Very helpful. Two things: after surgeries (anesthesia) my tinnitus was always temporarily gone. General and Iv sedation. On a day to day basis, I think of tinnitus like depth of field in a camera lens setting. I listen to sounds in the foreground with tinnitus existing in the background. That requires a bit of practice but then becomes automatic. If I THINK about my tinnitus, it moves to the foreground. Sometimes a continuous high pitched rushing sound and sometimes like sitting in an aviary at the zoo. Good luck to everyone.

Yes, this was very Helpful - and hopeful, as there is almost never discussion of research and a cure, just ways of learning to live with tinnitus. Fwiw, as someone who was exposed to loud sounds in my youth, I would also love to see more preventative information shared with the general public to do whatever possible to limit the cases in future populations.

I had a concussion in 2021 with tons of various therapies for healing, one year I woke up with tinnitus. I didn’t have it before. After it wasn’t going away I started working with my Chiropractor and there’s a reduction in the tinnitus. I think there needs to be other treatments explored for tinnitus. I keep a journal and determined to found out the cause. I was also told from naturopaths and Chinese medicine practitioners to get lots of REST, avoid stress, fried spicy foods and alcohol.
@Nick-iu7ks Жыл бұрын
Given the findings or Professor Susan Shore in that tinnitus is generated in the DCN, that was backed up by 2 successful clinical trials, shouldn't we actually focus and build on this? It seems like even Dr Ridder goes about it like a fishing expedition. The understanding is there in terms of pathophysiology, so collaboration with the Shore Lab is a must.

This has been helpful. Mine started 3 weeks ago and I might have been lucky finding this channel early. I’ve been doing anxiety and stress reduction with mindfulness and breathing exercises, combined with stopping coffee and masking/habituation for around two weeks now and my tinnitus has come down from 7-8 to 1-2 in such a short time. I do suspect I have several of these sub types, because I do have somatic tinnitus, since it does change with my neck position or by clenching my teeth. But this one has a higher frequency, almost like an electrical sound. And at times this goes away and I’m left with this mild hizz that’s constant. And doesn’t seem to change by neck position etc. But weirdly enough I never experience both at the same time.
@treblehealth6 ай бұрын
It's great to hear that you've found some relief with mindfulness and other techniques! Since you've noticed a connection between clenching your teeth and your tinnitus, it would be a good idea to let your dentist know about this. They might be able to help you address the clenching, which could potentially reduce your tinnitus symptoms even further.

Have had tinnitus for almost a year. I have variable tinnitus two to three days a week tinnitus free or very low tinnitus the rest of the week moderate to very bothersome tinnitus. For me, I think pressure changes in the ear make me tinnitus-free. If I take a nasal spray when I am tinnitus-free, the tinnitus comes within a short time. Haven't heard of anyone else having tinnitus like this. I also have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) which can cause tinnitus. I can no longer drink alcohol as the last time I drank alcohol I had 4 weeks of severe worsening of my tinnitus probably due to MCAS.

Hi Dr. Ben, I live outside of the US and was trying to schedule a free consultation with someone from Treble Health but to my disappointment, there are no free consultations given to people outside the US and Canada. I'm truly in dire need of help since my debilitating tinnitus (I'd say a 10 out of 10) has been affecting my whole life and career and I'm a father of a daughter and have to be the provider of my family, and after going through countless studies and doctors, no-one was able to help me. Is there any chance I could get some help somehow? I'm really really desperate to find some relief, I take about 10 pills every night to go to sleep and I have been feeling restless for months. My case started after the extraction of 3 tooth, 2 of them inserted deep within the maxillary sinus so maybe I can offer some unique insight into one more possible cause for this debilitating disease. I beg for help Dr. Ben, and I'm ready to do whatever it takes in order to either habituate or cure myself. Please, if you can offer me a chance. All the best.

What is DMT?
@obsidianman502 жыл бұрын
@@anapaulacavaco4870 An extremely intense psychedelic drug that you vaporise and then completely leave reality for around 5 - 10 minutes seeing incomprehensible geometry and concepts. It is physically safe (cant overdose or damage your brain, very little side effects), but illegal, and one of the strongest psychoactive drugs out there. Due to its intensity and instant tolerance gained, it is NOT addictive. Unlike drugs such as opioids or stimulants which act on brain pathways which give pleasure (endorphins & dopamine), psychedelic drugs act through serotonin pathways which are much more complex and control fundamental consciousness rather than give pleasure. DMT is the type of drug that if you took without any prior experience with 'softer' psychedelics such as LSD or psilocybin, you'd almost certainly have a terrible experience. And the intensity of it leaves users not wanting to use it for long periods of time afterwards, even if it was profound and positive for them. So unfortunately not a viable tinnitus treatment, but it gives interesting insight that it alters perception of tinnitus. Other serotonergic based drugs like MDMA and LSD have been reported to lower tinnitus symptoms, but also reported to worsen them. Which indicates serotonergic pathways in the brain play a role in percepting phantom sounds.

Very helpful, also encouraging. I've found there is a definite 'threshold' where the perceived tinnitus becomes so dominant that it has a undeniable affect on my abiltity to function. Any and/or many treatments which keep it below this threashold are worth investigating.. PLUS if anyone in UK has received any positive NHS treatment, please reply. Thanks.

Hello! I have a question. My tinnitus is hearing-loss induced. I believe i damaged my hair-cell because of excessive use of earphone in 100% sound during lockdown. Right now i have mild-tinnitus. After knowing it tried to avoid earphones. But life is stressful and i can't live without music. So my question is can i use hearphones (with less than 50% volume) without making my tinnitus/ hearing-loss worse? what do you think? hopinhg for a reply.

Great presentation. I noticed that Dr. De Ridder mentioned prescribing acamprosate in cases where tinnitus improves when consuming alcohol. I was wondering if any one out there has had any experience with this medication. This is the second time that I hear someone knowledgeable in this area mention this treatment.
