Thanks Bino. My climbing rope and a friction saver arrived today. It's a rainy day today, but it won't be long before I start learning to climb.

Great video. One additional note on the longer cords. The longer the cord, the more set-back you will encounter. Thanks.

It depends on the climber and how far the like the hitch to be. I like a short cord because I like the hitch close to me. 24" by 8mm HRC cord is my favorite.

Hi @Bino, I lately heard about a thumb rule that prusik cords should be of a lesser diameter than the rope. Now maybe I just don't get to see it right but it seems to me that you sometimes use cords of equal diameter. Just want to make sure to get that point right.
@BinoH
@BinoH 6 ай бұрын
The max Prusik cord I use is 10mm but I usually use 8mm. If I'm using a split tail I use the same diameter of rope.

@@BinoH As always life is more organic and thumb rules seem to apply more to "sitting thinkers" 🤓 Reality seems to be more about real action and good sense. thanks for your teaching and for your answer!

Oh and if you could really show some heavy light on the VT hitch with as much detail as possible that is the hitch I'm most interested in. And if you could put a link to your micro pulley you like most plz. Thanks again man👍🏻
@BinoH

Sure I plan on showing the VT and a few others. The micro pulley is CMI but I like using the hitch climber pulley and the pulley my son uses is Notch Phlotich Hitch Minding Pulley.

What is the diameter of the prussic cords that you like? I have 8mm 30 inch cords that I use on the Samson hyperclimb, and I am thinking about trying a 24 inch cord. Should I stick with 8mm or go up to a 9.3mm cord? Will there be a big difference in the cord performance due to the diameter? I would try both, but they are not cheap.
@BinoH
@BinoH Жыл бұрын
I also like 8mm but I usually use a 24" cord.

Hey Bino, why would an arborist use a quickie rather than a carabeiner?
@BinoH
@BinoH 3 жыл бұрын
The Quckie is not a replacement for a Carabiner. It is used for a canopy anchor or a base anchor on a SRS System and sometimes used to connect a couple of components together.

U obviously r a person that cares about safety. I ordered a DMM Eccentric with the oval carabiners 2day along with some other gear & I ordered an extra 30 " prusik. Just want to have the system ready to go when I need to finish a job the right way this spring.

How in the world do you expect us to see how to tie a knot going so fast and with your hands hiding the process? Not angered but just in need to see how you tie the knots. Have a Blessed day.

Hi Tony, This Video is not on Tying the hitch but on the cords used in tying the hitches. I will be showing the hitch I tied in this video and others in the upcoming weeks. We will try to give good angles so you will be able to se how I tie them. We do our best to upload on Thursdays.

Don't stitch your own sewn eyes unless you have the proper equipment and have a few examples break tested. I tried hand stitching some 3/8 HTP a few years ago out of curiosity. The eye ripped apart around 3,000 lbs. Sketchy gear can lead to serious problems. Stay safe.

You repeatedly refer to these "ascenders" as 'prusiks', but none of them are tied as a prusik. Re 4:04 & 7:28 show properly tied ‘termination knot’s, correctly set “slipped clove hitch”. Re 4:23 shows a ‘termination knot’ which is incorrectly set, as well as too short a tail (not like the correct one in his left hand)
