Thanks! Great timing, I've been doing this for the last month on my property but with MUCH larger trees. It really is much safer and easier to log this way!! FWIW, in the beginning of the video, he is digging and the machine tips back each time he pushes down into the harder dirt. If that is happening to me, I turn the machine around so the blade is in the rear. It helps keep the machine on the ground.

Sounds like your Groundhog is working well for you. You should post a video of your machine in action digging out a tree. We don't have any videos of your model doing that yet. Thanks for watching!

Yes, I should do that. I always get working and don't think about trying to film something. Sadly, I always work alone. Really enjoy your videos. Hey, I should mention that my track adjustment system on the ZH20D is a 36mm bolt with some lock nuts and it was not possible to get a socket/ ratchet onto the large adjustment bolt. The opening was too small to accommodate the ratchet with the socket on it. I had to use a large crescent wrench to re-adjust the track whenever I would throw one off. It took forever to move the long bolt in and out. So, I removed the large bolt and found it is much longer than it needs to be to do its job. I cut off about 2" from each bolt (one on each side) and now I can get the socket on it. Track adjustment is much faster now! If you cut too much off, though, you can't get both of the large locking nuts on the remaining threads (but you can shave them down or get thinner ones or just go with one nut). Hope that helps someone if they are having that same problem!

@YamahaC7SRG Good to know. If you continue to throw tracks by using your Groundhog out in the woods you could always upgrade to a set of steel tracks. I had the same issue but I haven't thrown a track since I put the steel tracks on. I was over to Groundhog yesterday and they had steel tracks in stock.

I would like to see a comparison video between the 14 series groundhogs and the 14 series Kymron units. These groundhogs sounds to bog under load more than what I can tell with the Kymron units.

Well to be honest this model was undergoing research and development when I approached Nick about making this video. The Pro in this video uses the same engine as the one's in my Groundhog KH14G and BH14G-2. Nick was still working the bugs out of the Pro with hydraulic and heat issues but that was awhile ago. If your on the fence about which to buy just head over to Groundhog in Middleburg PA and test one out. I've never seen a kymron in PA so I don't really have a way to compare the two. To be honest with kymron being a prior Groundhog dealer your probably going to get a comparable machine but because kymron is further away from a port their prices are going to be higher with most of their machines . I would recommend going to your closest dealer either way for parts and dealer support. Both Groundhog and Kymron offer comparable warranties and it really comes down to which you like the most. Hope this helps.

Would the steel tracks keep you from bouncing so much my back has issues
@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator Жыл бұрын
Well it depends on the surface your tracking over. The steel tracks definitely keep you planted on the ground better acting as a counter weight. The rubber tracks tend to wrap around rock's and roots acting like a shock absorber but they tend to rock your machine around making you feel more tippy on rough terrain. I prefer the steel tracks to keep the excavator more stable along with the most comfortable seat you can get. I also have a back injury so I can relate.

Can you switch from rubber to steel with the same undercarriage
@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator Жыл бұрын
@paruggeri Yes. You can run steel and rubber tracks with the same undercarriage components on a Groundhog Mini Excavator.

Currently I'm showcasing the Groundhog BH14G-2 on the channel. My plan is to put 100 hours on it before I can justify purchasing a new model for the channel. You could work something out with Groundhog Equipment if you would like to sponsor a few videos by loaning me a BH14G pro. That would be a reasonable offer. Talk with Nick Hackenberg if your interested.
