The girl who was starved by her Father. What a cruel thing to do. Even if your goal was to discipline your kid, it will never be a good option.
@nawaribnatchowdhury25203 жыл бұрын
I agree with what you said, it's wrong to do so. But back then, punishments were harsh. My teacher tells her stories of how she was punished. She was starved and put in the balcony to sleep in the cold nights, just because she tore her slipper accidentally while running. My dad got harsher punishments. He was beaten up with bricks, metal sticks. Ppl weren't so educated and careful back then, so maybe that's why they treated kids with such harsh punishments. This was a very common act in my country back then.

You could see the panic in the girl who had been starved as a kid as she ran to the store to help the woman. We often learn from the hurt we go through when young what we want to be as adults. In her case, she knew she wanted to be the exact opposite of the man who 'raised' her. There was absolute love and concern in her heart for a stranger because she wanted to protect her from the pain she'd been through.

Yeah ikr. i will never understand how people can take it that far. My parents fed me, but bc I was chubby they basically commented on my body, my looks and what/how much I ate. That made me choose MYSELF to diet, after a few years of them doing so. That’s the right way to do it, not to forcefully starve kids, then they will just see diets as punishments later on and might now even get thinner.

This hits home. I was always forced by my ex to take a diet. He would buy me a shake and tell me to follow the meal plan, etc. I really believed he was encouraging me; I was so blinded. I did this and did that, for myself and probably for him as well because I have low self-esteem... not realizing it was also because of him that I looked at myself less. Now, I can be by myself and be free but also take care of myself and love the way I am. If a man forces you to change your appearance, he clearly does not love you, he just wanted to flaunt you to others.

It took me a long time to recover from that and even after I got out of the hospital I still started to panic whenever I felt that I was hungry. They did many questionable things. One time I was standing in the hallway with my best friend (we got to know each other in the mental hospital 3 years ago. We're still in contact) and we were talking. Then a bunch of people (therapists and other staffs) walked in our direction. I think around 5 people. We already had a bad feeling about this so we hugged each other. As they approached us they forcefully pulled us apart. I remember myself screaming and yelling at them, trying to get away from them. And my friend was just standing there completely shocked unable to do anything. They dragged us to our rooms and locked us in. I was sitting in my bed and crying my lungs out. My therapist came to my room and scolded me. The only sentence which I still remember is ,,You can't just hug a girl". I still try to figure out what she meant because this "girl" was my best friend. She went out and left me locked in my room for the rest of the day.

My heart is breaking for the woman who was starved as a child as a punishment, it's horrendous that she had to experience that. But I also noted what she said, "Your boyfriend can't understand the feeling of starvation." The people who put us through suffering and ask ridiculous things of us are not thinking about how we're hurting, they're only thinking of themselves. It's a good reminder whenever some of us fall into these traps of "This person who says they love me expect this of me so I should bend to their will." If they are willing to disregard you and your needs, they do not deserve you.

I dont think you should say that, or maybe you didnt word it right. The people like this girl harm themself for other people attention/love is already hurtful inside, they're desperate & they'll do anything to keep that love. Most important thing for them to learn is to love themself. Saying they dont "deserve" is very harsh. The only person that dont deserve that love is the person who use that against them, force them to hurt themself,like the bf here. Dont put fault in the victim.

When one person stops to help the girl, everyone else will stop too, but if no one stops, passers-by will think like "other people will help her" and so no one will help that girl. @@elaijahgarcia6452 its still extremely damaging to the child, esp punishments like beatings & neglecting the child, is done out of anger and not love. being beat or starved as a kid is trauma inducing, and if that's the way that a parent 'disciplines' a child, then they're not very good parents. most asian parents also went through the same thing when they were children, but if they say "i turned out fine" after they have disciplined you like above mentioned, then they have obviously, not turned out fine. abuse is *never* okay, and it is still abuse even if the child turns out well-disciplined.
@rin__4 жыл бұрын
@@elaijahgarcia6452 I am an Asian and my parents did not starve or hit me for the sake of "disciplining". I'm 23 now and I don't have a single record of misbehaviour at school and university at all. My education is doing just fine too. I have also been told by relatives, friends, teachers, and acquaintances that I am a well-behaved person everywhere I go. I guess sometimes it's not the disciplining methods that shapes us, but the simple fact that we can understand how much our parents love us and want the best out of us.

@taejinsguccipant98653 жыл бұрын
It's a different experience for everyone. many Asian parents lived a tough life, had to go through alot (considering many Asian countries were robbed off,took long to stabilise themselves etc). So they are strict & hold on to their beliefs but alot of them want the best for their children..in their own way. It isn't as strict as it's portrayed in western countries. There's love & compassion too, sometimes it's more hidden & given in cold form but it's there.
