the sign of the value returned is the reference for deciding whether to place obj1 before or after obj2, but in which evaluation standard the sign is returned? what makes the method compareto() return a positive value that make obj1 go after obj2? what makes the method compareto() return a negative value that make obj1 go before obj2?

Sir, as per my understanding, StringBuffer has implemented Comparable Interface since Java 1.2, so if this is the case while inserting elements in the TreeSet should not return the class-cast exception because it is Homogeneous as well as Comparable then why does this error come? public final class StringBuffer extends AbstractStringBuilder implements Serializable, Comparable, CharSequence
