Thanks for the video. I am also a "heavyweight" weight, my weight is 105 kg. and I'm considering purchasing the Trek Domane SL6. What can I say, you convinced me to take the big step towards carbon. My current bicycle is an aluminum Trek 2000, it has now had its day, giving me great satisfaction. Thank you, the lands of Tuscany are waiting for me with the new Trek.

It’s a super comfy bike as long as you’ve got the right size. The trek charts said I should have had a 58 but felt more comfortable on a 56. Enjoy your new bike day 😍

@@CyclingwithRuss thanks Russ - I sat on both the 56 and the 58 and the 58 felt better. The guy I saw the first time suggested 58 and a different guy in the same shop second time suggested the 56 - both just by looking at me. My measurements suggest the 58, but to be fair either would work, but I preferred the fell of the bigger bike.

Great vid Russ and an inspiration to keep pressing on those hills! Your Domane reviews helped me decide to buy my SL 7 Gen4 and lije you, I love it. Agree, whilst comfortable, tge tyres feel sluggish, though i dont want to reduce comfort so still looking for alternatives. Yes, the stock saddle is a good shape but numbing on longer rides due to its thick foam. I think Trek expect people to swap it out so out a basic one on it. I went fir the Ergon ST all road and its a brilliant match. Also found the same with the handlebar, not really ergonomic enough. I swapped this for a Pro PLT Carbon and some better tape. All in all it’s a great set up and i’m not sacrificing too much compared to my old aggressive Bianchi racer. But is it worth the money Trek ask - well prices have come down as there’s a worldwide surplus of bikes. Its the only way i could afford one!

Sorry for the late reply my life’s been really busy for the tube! Sounds like a great set up, would love to see it. I upgraded the saddle to the same one but more premium and seems to be a lot better. I’ve been debating about some carbon bars and wheels but that maybe next year now. Glad my videos helped you buddy

Great video Russ, just subscribed. I bought the Domane Al5 Gen 3 as a winter bike. I wanted the 105 disc and it came in quite cheap end of season at £1600. My first thoughts were it is a smidge heavy at 10.1k, my gravel bike is about the same. The geometry is really nice. Much more up right. It's a good chose for all day in the saddle. My other ride is a tarmac which is almost 3 kg lighter but will probably move it on next year. Might look for the Domane SL with a better groupset. Great bike, thanks for the review. 🚴🏼🚴🏿‍♀️👍

There great bikes mate. I truly enjoy riding mine. I wish my budget permitted a better group set than the 105 just for bling purposes 🙈 I’ve recently bought a major upgrade for mine that I’ll reveal to once it’s arrived but looking at a few weeks till it/they arrive 😂🤫

I love the trek it’s an amazing bike, I’m sure you’ll be happy with an SL6. Had my budget permitted I’d have got one as well. Are you looking at the gen 3 or 4 ? Thank you for the sub 😉❤️

@@CyclingwithRuss when you watch reviews by the likes of cycling weekly, GCN etc.... they are all positive, rarely show any negative points as they get the bikes for free, are sponsored etc... so its in their interest to write up a good review. Looking at the Gen 4 so it only has the ISO at the back. Will probably wait until next spring and put the Giant through another Welsh winter rather than a new ride!
@CyclingwithRuss
@CyclingwithRuss 11 ай бұрын
There’s a group on Facebook that’s probably worth looking at in regards to the seat post problems the Gen 4 has. Trek issued new seat clamp wedge for them. Ask them for the version 4 wedge. There’s a number printed on them I believe. I agree with you as well about reviews, I’ve been asked to review a couple of things before but they said they want the video first and also my footage. I said no as this is a hobbie and I’m not earning enough to leave my full time job

Great video. The Trek Domane "RSL" gen 4 is the most aggressive Domane, and is only available as a frame set. The RSL model is a better climbing bike than an SL and SLR Domane. It is the frame of choice of the Trek-Segafredo pros and has won the Paris-Roubaix. I have a Madone Gen 7, and am about to buy a Domane. I am still saving up. Congrats on your new Domane.

I’m going to cover it but struggling to get what I want to say out at the moment. I’m still unsure if it was the tyres or the wheel set as my custom wheels are similar in weight but roll a hell of a lot better. I’m going to contact the wheel builder to get some info off him.

New subscriber, new potential cycler doing all kinds of research to learn more and seriously considering the Domane. You mentioned different handle bars to reduce reach. I noticed the stem looked quite long. Is a shorter stem also an option to reduce reach? Be curious on your thoughts….and a test to see if some of what I am researching is sinking in!
@CyclingwithRuss
@CyclingwithRuss Жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. I’ve found in the past when I reduced the stem it made the handling very twitchy. The bars I put on reduced where you put your hands on the hood shorter by 50mm. When my hands were on the tops when climbing is perfect to there’s no need to reduce the stem for me. I hope this helps 😀

@CyclingwithRuss
@CyclingwithRuss 24 күн бұрын
A size 56 is 9.85kg or 21.72 lb. It would be easy though to get that weight down with the right upgrades. I wouldn’t worry too much about much though about that as it’s probably easier to lose weight off your self

@@CyclingwithRuss Thanks. I already have the bike, but its way heavier than my much cheaper old Fuji bike. So Im still driving the same speed even the Trek is better. I also added some heavier wheels so I can drive on gravel, but I think it is the bike itself that is heavy. Going to the pyrenees next month, so will see how heavy it really is there : )
