TREK Madone Gen 8 SL VS SLR

I was literally looking at the 2025 Madone SL 7 Gen 8 and trying to find reviews and you came up. I like this bike. My first road bike was a Trek. I had no problems with it. I now want to upgrade. I'm listening and watching to find out where the battery sits to see if this bike is easy to travel abroad with.

One of the better reviews I've seen...this lady really knows her stuff! Enjoyed 'loose tooth in the gums' isospeed analogy and charging batteries in sync with dog heartworm medication. Watching out for an EMP!

I rode the SL6 and SL7. On the SL6 I absolutely hated the bar. It’s such a cheap bar to put on a bike even at 5500. Just put the new $200 bar on it you released. That bike would fly off the shelves as a budget friendly bike in today’s prices. It’s not good when the local Trek dealer tells you they didn’t do enough to compete with other brands right now..

I really want the new Madone, though I don't know if it would be "overkill" for me. Right now I have a Checkpoint SL 5 with road tires on it and it seems to be doing well for me. Not sure if a casual rider like me would benefit from the Madone at all.

Throw some gravel tires back on your Checkpoint, and get the Madone. Problem solved!
