Trek to Goechala View Point 1 & Lama pokhri, Sikkim, Oct '23

The Goechala trek is a famous trekking route in the Indian state of Sikkim, renowned for its stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, including the majestic Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. The trek typically takes around 8-10 days to complete, starting from Yuksom and passing through diverse landscapes such as dense forests, alpine meadows, and glacial valleys. Trekkers often encounter diverse flora and fauna along the way, making it a memorable experience for nature enthusiasts. The highlight of the trek is reaching the Goechala Pass, located at an altitude of about 4,940 meters (16,207 feet), offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Due to its high altitude and challenging terrain, the Goechala trek requires a moderate to high level of fitness and acclimatization to avoid altitude sickness.
The Lama Pokhri trek from Thansing in Sikkim is a relatively lesser-known trekking route that offers a serene and off-the-beaten-path experience in the Himalayas. The trek usually starts from the village of Thansing, which is a common stopover for trekkers on the Goechala trek route. From Thansing, trekkers proceed towards Lama Pokhri, a picturesque high-altitude lake surrounded by lush greenery and towering peaks. The trail takes you through pristine alpine forests, meadows dotted with colorful flowers, and remote mountain landscapes, providing ample opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. The tranquility of Lama Pokhri and its breathtaking natural beauty make it a perfect destination for those seeking solitude and immersion in nature. However, since it's a less frequented route, trekkers should be well-prepared with proper gear, navigation tools, and provisions for camping, as facilities along the way may be limited. Additionally, it's advisable to check local regulations and obtain any necessary permits before embarking on the trek.
