I walk down that path alongside the Trent 3 or 4 days a week with my dogs. It’s great to watch the changing nature of the river across the weeks and seasons. The water you showed on the Weir Fields towards the end of the video froze over the weekend just gone and became an impromptu skating rink for the locals

I live at Toton,just up from the reserve and we see the Trent like this regular in Winter now. About a mile from where you started this walk the river Erewash joins the Trent and the Manor playing fields get flooded by it too.

I grew up in Chilwell. Moved away in 1966 but on visits home would invariably walk down to Attenborough and either turn right or left to walk along the Trent. This video is amazing. While I recognize the various landmarks I’ve never seen the river flooded like this. I hope all those beautiful homes along the Strand in Attenborough are safe. Greetings from Medellin, Colombia.

Great video, when I was doing a relief work at Beeston Mail Centre, I regularly cycled along the Trent to Attenborough, and back into the city. I do miss visiting Nottingham for work now I'm retired.

beautiful clip Ant;- both the haunting notes of the cello and the dramatic chords of the violins really set off your visuals. Many thanks from Stratford, New Zealand!

Thanks for doing this for us Ant. As always, very interesting. At first, where you filmed the directional arrow with your drone, I did think that it was a narrowboat.

Superb footage Ant, the quality of your videos is outstanding including music and drone. Heart breaking to see, those poor folk who live there. When I think of all the places I've explored having the drone gives a perspective that cant be matched really. You are very courageous, attempting even going on the paths near flooding weirs . Take care 💜

I live in long eaton and im a keen fisherman i knew every part of the river bed and all the deaths from Sawley to beeston. Now ive got to learn it all again 😢 because of all the scouring of the river bed in them conditions. Imagine how many tons of slit/gravel are being moved along the bottom of the river bed. Average depths of the trent at Attenborough were 16ft in normal levels every big flood makes it deeper or shallower in certain areas
@rayhenwood383321 күн бұрын
Hi Ant. I used to live at Beeston lock where the Heritage Centre is now. We were lucky not to see any flooding in the 15 years that we were there.
@mikenorman252521 күн бұрын
The canal on the other (Nottingham) side of Beeston lock runs inside the flood defences. Amazing to think it's just those lock gates holding back the whole of the flooded Trent and forcing the water round over the weir. If those gates failed that whole area of Beeston (the Rylands) would be inundated.

Amazing footage Ant.There`s no stopping water when it`s in full flood like that is there?.Thanks for posting.I wonder if you could follow the Trent further upstream to Barrow upon Trent and Aston on Trent, just to the south of Derby so that we could see what it`s like there. Please be carefull though.

The A617 from Kelham to Newark only re opened today - been shut for nearly a week due to flooding. The water you had at Beeston takes a good day or two to reach Newark so we always know what to expect a few days later via the river gauge at Colwick & Farndon
@TrekkingExploration21 күн бұрын
I'll probably go over to Newark next time this happens. Thanks very much for watching

Hi, just a suggestion for a further video. How about doing the varsity line between Oxford and Cambridge.
@trendtraderx21 күн бұрын
There is a new flood pumping station up at derby [you might want to have a look] and ever more defences to save Derby. It means more and more water gets pushed down river and so higher water here. It's not the whole story but its the 2nd time we had such floods since the Derby pumps opened.
