What brush did you use in this video? Thank you for this informative video! Just getting started with my Kong.

It was an old one we had around the house. Harbor freight is where I picked it up I'm pretty sure. I just wanted a short handle and flat broom, not the vertical ones that are usually hand held.

Awesome video! Appreciate the walkthrough with your personalized details. Mine showed up and I managed to get it to the backyard. Now to learn how to use charcoal!

Love the foil idea. No big differences in temps with the foil on than with it off?
@TREmendousQue2 жыл бұрын
So I have not cooked with the foil off but educated guess... No difference. If there is a temp difference, which i doubt, it won't even be noticed if you use it consistently. 👍🏿

Hey thanks for this! My Kong was delivered and have started cooking on it (the 1st cook is a popular episode, though I messed up the Tomahawk a bit :-) - so time for a good clean - get those "alien substances" out ;-). I had totally forgotten about the Grill Stone - used it years ago and gonna pick up some for my grills! I have not wrapped my grill stones - I have found that the heat of the charcoal clean it right back to factory look - burns off everything. I started trying to light the charcoal in the basket, but had uneven results - now use a chimney and (thought it feels like a bit of a cheat) that is my go to strategy.

Yea i think you are right about the diffuser plate being cleaned by the heat. Do you still have to scrape them at all? Or just let them self clean while cooking?

Just discovered your channel, great information. With respect, the music is too loud and distracting and makes it tough to hear your voice at times.

Preciate the feedback. I picked up a lapel mic and that should help!

You should get the kick ash can. I love mine. Great video, by the way.

You're right. I can't remember if they were selling it when I bought the grill originally, but I definitely plan to pick one up. Sounds like you might own one?

@@TREmendousQue yeah. Nice to not have to drag the ashes through the front opening and get ashes everywhere.

How do you add more charcoal during a cook when using a diffuser?
@TREmendousQue2 жыл бұрын
I don't normally have to add charcoal, but if I do, then I have to take the grates off and one or both of the diffusers. I usually only take one off though. Definitely have to move quickly though to avoid the meat cooling down to quickly or the charcoal igniting too fast and then catching fire, making the pit too hot. good luck!

is this kong modern? mine has different diffuser stone and i like this better
@TREmendousQue2 жыл бұрын
It's been around a few years. To answer your question, when I bought mine I bought the split diffuser. It was an upgrade and well worth it if you are considering getting one.

You are definitely dedicated to your craft. I clean the grates on my grills twice a year, whether they need it or not.
@TREmendousQue2 жыл бұрын
Might be enough unless you are cooking every weekend, or almost every weekend.
@SuperNelsonEddie2 жыл бұрын
why not just put the grates in a dishwasher. works for me

So I just picked up a hand brush from my local hardware store. Nothing special. I just wanted horizontal bristles not vertical like the normal hand brushes are made.
