TIP: On the excavator's arm put mark at the 48 inches just make sure to keep the bucket in the same position each time you measure.

Good job on the trenching! If you drop your bucket into the trench at the depth you want, you can put a piece of duct tape on the arm of the excavator at grade and then you wont have to keep getting out and checking with the tape. Hope this makes sense. Saves a lot of steps :)

before you drop the reel into the trnech tie a loop of rope through the reel then just pull it backward into the trench, pin down the pipe as you go, much easier and you dont need to get in the trench, the pipe will unwind as you puull it, and easy to manipulate,....nice job you done there,...

I have this water line and metal hose clamps burried all over my campground in northern Wisconsin. Owners before me used metal clamps for 30 years. I'm on 15 years. I have never had a clamp rust off. They are rusty, yes. My lines are blown out in the fall and not deep. We get a few broken lines per year, but its always a different issue than clamps. Thank you for the great video.

The best assistant for yard work has 4 legs and a wagging tail. Labs ate the best! Any lab I've had would have been right in the trench "helping" with the digging and/or napping in the muddy water. 😂😂😂

I missed getting it on video but at one point she found here way in to the trench and ran up and down it in 6 inches of muddy water!

Great job. I would have put the water tape down so you can find the line again in the future if there is a problem. I also would have use stone to put the waterline down on top of it.

OK...Stupid question here... At about the 1:00 mark you explain that there is a water line and electric line running from the house to the barn already installed. Now you are running a water line from the barn to the greenhouse (I hope you are putting an electric line in as well, even if you don't currently hook it up. Cost is minimal and if you ever need it you don't have to dig again). From the greenhouse you are running 200+- feet of water line back to the house. Why? If the water going to the barn that you are hooking into originates at the house like you say in the video, why not T off from the line at the house and just run a line to where the 200 feet is ending up right back at the house? It saves on the amount of line, which is no big deal as that line is cheap, but it also cuts out several connections which IS a big deal since every connection is a potential future leak.

Pro tip for trenching, you can take duct tape or even chalk and mark where on the arm of the excavator the 4 ft mark is and then just dig until you reach that mark. Loving watching you improve your farm! God bless!!

Great job Todd, I like anyting where there's an excavator in use. That drainpipe looks like a French drain, I know down here by code we have to use straight pipe it can't be corrugated for sewage. I don't think you're going to kill that tree. Great video thanks for sharing, Jimmy

That pipe is just a drain to get the roof runoff away from the house so, easy repair luckily

@@SSLFamilyDad use a piece of hi-viz duck tape on the boom with your bucket tip on the ground to check depth. that's what most of the low tech guys do around here.

With your excavator or any digger arm, measure a point on the arm with the bucket curled in the hole and mark that point so you know the depth without getting out and in the machine to determine depth of your hole.

Put a mark on your boom save time! Next time put that black plastic pipe by your wood stove all night until your ready to use! I put tires in the house by a heater or over a heat register all night if I know I have to break them down in the morning!

that way works too but i think i would have unrolled it above ground and dropped it in. just need to fix one and to something and off you go. no need to really go in the trench. a warmer day would have been better as you stated also.

does the blade have an angle setting or adjustment , might put a hydrant at the 1st splice hard to have too many hydrants {chevy 6299 s ideal of a mark is nice}, we have an old backhoe on a 9n ford need new swing cylinders old ones are rusted up and wipe out the seals (packings actually) but the machine shops want a couple of hundred per cylinder. beats a shovel all to heck
