Did you install ground rods at the new sub panel since it’s a separate structure?
@CountryViewAcres3 жыл бұрын
I have the ground rod. I haven't installed it yet. I also need a add-on lug for the ground buss, to properly land the ground wire. I am not 100% complete yet. But the ground will be isolated from the neutral when I am done. And the wire phased taped for neutral and ground.

In Southern Ma we need 3" sch. 40 conduit and in today's market is $55/10'. We need a back up conduit along side the main conduit. We need another 3" conduit for low voltage. We need sand in the bottom and above the conduit. We need a (2) silo for transition, we need SO SO much. I'm installing just under 500 feet and the entire project minus labor, so far, is $15,000 and the pipe isn't even glued together yet! If my 93 year old mom wasn't still with us I would have moved to a state without such regulations. Can you imagine a power company mandating I have to put a back up conduit for POSSIBLE future use! Did I mention that the low voltage has to be 18" away from the high voltage? So, now you have to dig a 30" wide trench...

You both did a good job. You do realize that it is a great thing to have a wife that is both willing and able to do all of the work that is needed and you are blessed to have one. Teamwork is not always easy and can turn out badly. The first project my husband and I did together was a pretty basic plywood box to hold our records and things in and he was so worried that the glue (he always uses glue and screws on everything) would start to dry and was in a hurry & was rather impatient. I have now developed arthritic problems that stop any joint efforts (pun intended) , which does not totally disappoint me. Patience IS a virtue and a blessing. Great job you two.

Your motor loads in the new barn will like the extra voltage. They will start well and draw a bit less cutrrent. Also your panel voltages will drop a bit when you start adding loads. You have a blank slate with 251 vac right now. Led lights are voltage regulated, so 125 vac won't bother them. Your property may be near the substation which could explain the higher voltge.
@wymershandymanservice99653 жыл бұрын
Not to be a Fuddy Duddy but if you cover the end of the vacuum hose with a cupped piece of screen it catches the bag at the end so it’s not clear into the vacuum tank. But there’s no fun in that 😀. Doing some really great work 👍 great content 🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸

Being a retired (UK) Utility Distribution Engineer in Central London for 20+ years (were all cables go underground) that was a very slick Job you did; Please remember these underground cable Jobs , if you do not prepare properly, can turn into a disaster. The only comment is when plastic cables are pulled through plastic ducts this can cause severe friction and cable/duct melting, this can be avoided by smearing cables with biodegradable washing up liquid before pulling through plastic ducts.
