Hi. Finished watching so I can answer your question. I knit several hours a day pretty well every day and have for many years. I have many projects going and change whenever I feel the need. Sometimes I’m in the middle of a row and I stop. I can’t go on. I switch knitting projects. I watch a multitude of knitting podcasts and get lots of inspiration there. I have online knitting friends and we do our own knitalongs. I have one friend who I’ve known since we were seven and we get together and knit pretty well every week. Another friend I’ve known since I was 12. We also knit together. Sooo very fun. I’ve started a knitting group in the lobby of a condo building where mostly seniors live. I’ve made new friends there. I hang out there for five hours during the day every Monday. Knitting has brought me together with many friends, new and old…

Mark, I knit, crochet, and quilt. I toggle among the three with crochet now and then. I have to admit that knitting has taken more of a priority in recent years. I have several projects on the go in the different crafts and enjoy switching depending on my mood or even the weather. I have a lovely routine most days of afternoons in the quilt studio and evenings in my knitting den. What I do love about it all is that there is still many technique and designs to learn, explore or discover. Never a dull moment now that I am retired!! I think you would make a fabulous retreat host btw.....

I'm also a singer and a box office manager at a theater, so knitting is relaxing time and a chance to immerse myself in color. I'm just binding off an interesting Stephen West shawl, which is repetitive and something I can do while watching You Tube. Happy new year!

Hi Mark! Thanks for mentioning the Berea Wild and Wooly festival, I’ve added it to my calendar. As a fellow NEO resident, currently sitting under a heated blanket I am so so envious of your Tucson weather. This winter has been brutal. I just wanted to let you know that I find your channel inspiring and love your authenticity. I hope to meet you in person at the festival!

I think times are never going to suit everyone, I am in the UK, so I usually watch my favourite channels while having my mid morning coffee. I am not in favour of live much. I usually knit about 3hrs a day when I have a project o the go. I also sew so I may be working on that. Looking forward to all that is coming up on your channel.

My son told me that sitting is the new smoking, so my goal is to stand for 15 minutes of every hour that I spend knitting. Continental knitting is helping me achieve this because I don't have to let go of the needle to flick the yarn.

I learn so much about Tucson from people who don't live here long-term. And not only was I born here and never lives anywhere else, but 20 years ago I worked at the Citcle K gas station just a few blocks south of that quilt shop. Been past there recently with a friend and hadn't seen that store at all. Also, appreciate hearing about pattern alterations from someone else who has a bust over 50" as opposed to under 40", and waists under 30".

I agree with your description of the lives - it's either the person staring at the screen responding in a one sided way that makes rewatching it confusing, or the person silently working on something. Premiers are kind of fun to chat with the creator while watching their video. Most of those I follow don't do either of those, and that's good. Do what is best for you. 🥰 I try to learn something every year, but it's hard because I want to try ALL the things. Last year was crochet, this year I am going to sew 1 button up shirt and quilt 1 thing (a bag or a toy). And start my KZbin that I was going to do the end of 2023 but family stuff postponed it. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡

Today I am working on a crochet hooded scarf (OMG by Toni Lipsey). To stay charged up, I mostly work on smaller projects, meaning finished within a week. I do not have time to get tired of the piece. ;-) When I do larger pieces (sweaters, blankets) I stop and do few small pieces (beanies) to refocus.

I used to quilt when I was younger. I can’t quilt now because I can’t really do the small stitches with my hands, however, I could tie a quilt. So, Mark, if you really want to get into quilting, look up in your home area and see if there’s a quilter guild, join the guild and you will never look back.

I really love your videos! You are so autthentic and transparent when sharing your projects and your thoughts. Looking forward to your future videos. I knit and crochet several hours a day (also do some mixed media). My goal for this year is to chose projects where I learn something new from the pattern or construction. I don't have many projects going at the same time since that stresses me out.

Have you heard of the last supper quilt? I went to a quilt guild meeting once where he showed the quilt and his process. It's huge and made with 1 inch squares. Photos don't really show how fabulous it is in person. If you ever get the chance to see it I highly recommend it and quilt guilds are also so much fun!

Beautiful background, Mark! In the frozen north it’s lovely to see such a beautiful place. My guess is that this suggestion involves time and effort that is daunting but perhaps more interviews ? Your channel has something to offer that’s unique and always engaging. Looking forward to more this year!

Two video (series?) ideas: Road-tripping yarn/craft stores, maybe anything that would be in range for weekend trips for you? And I would love a meet'n'make series where you visit other knitters/makers who are not the omnipresent straight cis woman. ^^ Seeing more representation would be lovely, especially now.

The cat and halibut sweaters are amazing! Just wondering how many years it would take for me to make one. I’m a quilter who knits warm accessories in the winter, so hearing “I thought quilting would be faster and started with Elizabeth Hartman” just made me laugh…a lot.

Loving the vibe of being in front of a palm tree in a knitted vest 😂 If you are also into more decorative hand stitching / slow stitching I would recommend watching K3n Clothtales here on youtube. She has some tutorials but also a lot of content just for inspiration 😊 LOVE the catknit sweater, but I don't like round yokes on my body... Might take the cat graph and just put it on a different pattern 😁

Oh Mark! You just amaze me! You are fearless in your crafting and I love that about you! I learned a long time ago sewing wasn’t for me as I am a hardcore perfectionist! I have gotten so much better over the years! And you inspire me with every podcast! Thank you for bringing the sunshine this week as it’s been very cold! I always forget to tell you what I’m working on . . .right now it seems everything on my end is about Mohair! And 2025 I decided will be the year of sweaters for me! And the company I work for is based out of Ohio! If I ever make it out that way I will definitely try and get together with you!

Hi Mark, I’m in the UK in a part of the World you know. I live on the river that flows through Durham. I’m a professional knitter so knit for several hours every day and never get sick of it. I test knit for a very famous yarn company and knit custom traditional Ganseys with 5 ply wool. Looking forward to one of the zoom sessions.

So happy I found your channel mark , and I love when you add snippets of you and Ned’s life in your videos too! (Even if you singing the messiah clip during Christmas time made me tear up. It was beautiful and I’m a bit soppy 😂 Also I feel very appreciated as someone who watches from abroad - thank you for that and thank you for coming to visit Ireland on your travels too! Believe it or not nearly ten years ago , I visited Cleveland Ohio!! I went to the rock and roll hall of fame - took a pic with the big guitar, walked around the city , stumbled across a lovely statue in memory of the Irish famine and couldn’t believe it , it really touched me ! Then went on a boat and saw the city in the night time and the lights , with drinks and everyone was so welcoming and lovely ❤ x keep the videos coming and hope you guys are having a great weekend

Thanks for sharing beautiful Tucson! Whenever you show footage from there I'm pleasingly reminded of The Turquoise Ledge by Leslie Marmon Silko. Today I also remembered that I get to see many palm trees every day in Chennai so I don't need to be too jealous😂. I just finished crocheting an elaborate little lace weight blouse and I feel like I can make anything!

What a coincidence! The cat-yoked sweater is my next project but I am considering doing it as a cardigan rather than as a pullover so I thought I would ask you a question here. Have you ever seen project pictures on Ravelry where a knitter has turned a yoked pullover into a cardigan and the upper part of the yoke is pulling away from the center more than the bottom of the yoke is? The idea I am kicking around is to add stitches between the two front repeats so that the top of the yoke has as many as the bottom. Have you ever seen this done and what do you think of the idea? I am planning on making it at the designed gauge and using Cascade Heritage sock yarn. Thanks for your video and your thoughts!

Good idea with the cat sweater! It's such a nice pattern to use. I think, you're right about views (and also mainly clear skies as well). I live next to the sea, and behind us we have the mountains. Certain times of the year we can actually swim, while watching the snow on the Sierra Nevada mountains 😊 It does something special for me as well to have the 'open space' around me. Enjoy your stay in Tucson ❤

OK, hear me out. One thing I'd love to see (and hear) is you and Ned singing a duet, and I have the perfect one in mind for you. Rossini wrote a duet for two cats; just take it down an octave, and it could work.

Watching this while sewing (my hopefully new needles and crochets case) and I have to say the view is jaw dropping ! Also I'm quite interested in the future video about bags ! Except for the bear blanket, did you sew anything else ? Or is it purely to mend things and quilt ? I'm currently learning how to sew, so I'm curious.

Dear Mark, I would like to express my sympathy for your poor camera struggling to focus between you and the arch. lol. It really does look beautiful there. I am in Manitoba...last week we had a blizzard and temps equal to -58F. I enjoy your videos and your stories so much. Lives can be interesting, but most of the time they are just too long and filled with ums and uhhhhs...yet many channels thrive on them. I wish you great success with whatever you choose to do. Oh, quilting...yes, its beautiful but I see a lot of small detail work required, so I haven't tried it yet.
