In Europe we will be embracing furry boots, furry gilets, warm scarves and cardigans of any shape or colour..in fact, warm clothes of any description. Layering will be a haute couture. Camouflage garments will become essential items for those people hiding from debt collectors. Distressed jeans with rips and holes will be burnt for warmth on communal bonfires.

I’ve never tried to keep with “the trend”. I’ve never understood why fashion designers are supposed to decide what I wear. I wear what I like and I believe looks good. I’ve never chosen to be “cookie cutter”. I don’t care to blend in with “the crowd”. Definitely not a copy-cat person. For those who choose to be what is called “in style”, that’s fine, but not for me.
@MommiesMakeupAndMoscato2 жыл бұрын
You are the only one who should determine what you wear but fashion designers business is to create these new trends and our job as influencers is to share them and sometimes share our opinions as well. People can choose what they do with that information and hopefully choose the styles they love and that express who they are. Fashion is never about blending in or being a copy cat. It's about expressing yourself and looking and feeling your best and whatever that means to you.

Thanks for all the hard work on this video. Love you ladies. Maybe it’s my age, but I just don’t care anymore. Chasing fashion is exhausting and expensive - combined with what’s off trend or considered ugly one minute is back in the next - I can’t be around it. On a side note, about 15 years ago a pointy toe shoe almost caused me to break my neck. Naw, never doing those again. Also, pointy toe shoes are a podiatrist’s dream - toes aren’t meant to be “squoze” like that.

This is the first time I visited your channel. I (63 yrs old) appreciate your work and you mean well. Most of us cannot afford to ditch clothes every year for every season change and ok if you can. I find better made clothes at Thrift shops. My Grandma told me if you take care of your clothes they will last. I like classics mostly. Furry boots (hugs) have been a classic style since the early - mid 00's. I live in an apartment complexed located between University of MI and Eastern MI University. Students leave bags of clothes in front of the garbage compactor fencing or inclosure. Found a pair of new UGGs just my size and they are very warm and I wear custom made moccasins with wool inserts. Comfort is my goal.

The best fashion advice given by another influencer was to buy basic and classic pieces and one or two trendy pieces to go with it. I have a pair of animal print flat loafers that I bought at the N sale years ago. Every fall I pull them out where them with black skinnies and either a black top or white T shirt and blazer and it never fails I get a compliment. Overloading on trends looks cheap to me. Yes, me too! As a curvy and full busted lady, I need something simple to elongate my torso. Olive is one of my neutrals too. And I am also 5'0" so I don't tend to wear large prints. I do love some batiks and some paisleys and muted small plaids. I think the shift to neutral shades of denim is part of the broader shift to women becoming more interested in sustainability, longevity and capsule wardrobes. Basically, if you want a wardrobe in which many pieces mix well, you are more likely to choose basics, like jeans, in neutral shades. It can depend on what YOUR neutrals are though. I have lots of denim pieces in shades of olive and khaki because it’s one of my wardrobe staple colours. So, I think it’s not that coloured denim is ‘out’, it’s that highly-combinable shades are ‘in’. I’m all for this in general, because we SHOULD be developing ways to make our wardrobes more sustainable!

One thing I started doing this past summer that worked really well is buying those little midriff tops the younger girls wear, and layering them over different garments. I buy them at least a size or two larger than I normally wear. They hang loose on the body and I end up looking slimmer and hiding my mid and upper body areas that need help. They hang loose on the body and I can tug them down in the front or adjust the shoulders to tug down more toward my back, depending on what I need to do. Example, with a form fitting bodycon type dress, I throw one of those short tops over it and the dress has same silhouette but doesnt look super sexy or inappropriate for my age because there's a loose layer over it. If my bust looks over exposed then I pull the top up at my shoulders then tug it down in the back. I also do vice versa if need to hide bulges near my tummy area. And I really like midriff tops that tie in the front because they're even more versatile, some are even long enough to diguise my hips. Today I bought a couple of thrifted sweater type midriff tops to try with my fall and winter clothing. Ladies please try getting a couple midriff type tops or cardigans and see if this works for you.

I was surprised you didn't say...skinny jeans...thank goodness they are so last season...
@kims19412 жыл бұрын
That's not true. The stores are still selling them and they are flattering. "Skinny" is the key word.

I think you're both right on for what's seen better days. I'm only 5'2' so I never wore infinity scarves (too bulky and bunchy), ugg boots (Clunky, heavy and unflattering), fur vests (made me look like the Micheline man), or color blocked dusters( made me look shorter and wide). So, I won't be missing those trends at all!

Please know I LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel appreciate your content! However, the changes in trends year after year clearly appear, in my opinion , as a way for the fashion industry to make money!! All the more reason, as you suggest, invest in classic pieces and don’t spend a lot of money on trends. So sorry…for some reason it just really hit a nerve with me this morning.
@MommiesMakeupAndMoscato2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely true! We do enjoy seeing all of the new trends but we've learned over the years where to invest and where to save. You will love next Thursday's video because it hits on ways to add a little freshness to those classic looks. It's our favorite ways to be "on trend" but without changing out our wardrobe.

Sadly, I’ve been feeling the same about the color block cardigans and I have several. I’ll be setting those aside this season as well as peep-toe shoes. Never was much of a camo fan. Excited to wear some of the fresher trends this fall! Thanks for always keeping us in the know on what’s in style and what’s not!

I will be ditching camo, color blocked cardigans, colored jeans, fur vests & big floral prints. I'll still be wearing furry ugh boots , open toed shoes , scarves,and long necklaces. Thank you for the update on fall trends.

Omg…I felt like camo came in burnt out! Needed to go a few years ago! I can’t think of another recent trend that went into such overkill! I don’t even personally like it, it just never seemed like good style, but gimmicky from the get-go.. so, I didn’t buy any. I hope you are right…but I was surprised I still saw some this season! Never got a furry vest or color-block cardi…prefer solids. I worked at The LOFT 10 years ago…color block was in then! Never went for the open toe boots either. I am guilty of loving “romantic” flowy floral dresses and tops…I have some still with big washy type florals on them. I’ll be keeping my two faves and I don’t wear them all the time. They’re still a cute, boho look, even if I’m not right on trend. I love ditzy florals too…but currently don’t have any. Thanks for the run-down. :)

Love camo print (not in jeans but in tanks/exercise leggings) and tie-dye (dresses for tropical vacations) so will continue to wear irregardless. And when a trend I like start to burn out for the season, it's a great time to pick these items up second hand. Funny how fast trends change because even before one has a chance to really think about getting on the bandwagon - it's out of fashion so that is how I never worry about the latest trends since I am always too slow to catch on LOL.

Honestly, I don't even know why I watch some of these videos. I've never watched one by you so I can't really comment on the reliability of your advice, but I will say that the older I get, the more I don't care what people think. I wear what I think I look best in and I accessorize with what makes me happy. That being said, if something new comes out that I like I'll get it. When I haven't worn something in x amount of time I decide that I must not like it anymore and then I'll get rid of it. I had to laugh when something was referred to as so 2020 - I don't think anyone hardly saw anything I wore in 2020 so I think it has a little life left in it. Keep doing you and good luck.

I have learned what styles look best on my body type and I wear what’s flattering to me regardless of trends. That said, I like staying updated on trends. Updated pieces or colors can give just the the right touch to an outfit. It’s not about being a slave to fashion… You just feel good when you know you look your best. I think fashion is supposed to be fun. Honestly, most of the time I’m in jeans and a T-shirt so when it’s time to get dressed for an event or an outing with friends it’s just fun to get “dressed up“. it might be my same every day jeans with cool boots, a slim black turtleneck sweater, and some gold hoops shown to perfection with my hair in a messy bun. Thank you, ladies, I think your advice was spot on.

I agree with your list of ditching certain trends. Some of the trends like the big florals or fur vests, I have never really embraced. That being said, I live in a colder climate during the fall and winter, so I will still be wearing my Ugg booties but not necessarily for fashion reasons, but more for necessity.😂I actually agree that the Ugg booties are not as fashionable but they are comfortable and warm.

Thanks ladies 💓 I never wore camouflage anything or coloured jeans. I love vests as I live in Canada and they’re great for warmth. Glad the block sweaters are out lol. Never took to them. As for winter boots are combat boots still in??I have a warm pair with good grip sole for the ice . Thanks again ladies 🌻. Ps… glad chokers are coming back👍🏻

I have been hanging on to my extensive collection of infinity scarves & faux fur vests for close to 5 years now because I just haven't seen anyone in my area wearing them. They feel even more dated to me than 2019, but I love them & will be waiting for a come-back! 🤞 Very sad about colored denim being on the out though, because they subbed nicely for slacks at work, and had the pockets I needed! If I didn't work in fashion I wouldn't care quite as much about following trends, but I'm afraid of looking like an imposter at my job! Haha
@erinobrien87932 жыл бұрын
If you have a sewing machine, you can take your infinity scarves apart with a seam ripper, then stitch the ends so they don’t unravel. Now you can still enjoy your scarves .

Here in upstate NY, fuzzy/shearling boots are a staple. I have Ugg boots that are almost 15 years old. I take great care of them. Spray them with protectant, and they are still in great condition.

ya those blanket scarves were way too big and looked dated a couple years ago. You can use them as a throw for the couch :) I usually only wear pendant necklaces in winter over a turtleneck. They just kinda get in the way around the house because they're too long. The fur vest always reminded me of Cher in the 1960s
@so.many.obstacles2 жыл бұрын
I use my blanket scarf for travel, it’s a heaven send when on a flight or cold airport. Other than that I didn’t wear them as a fashion statement. I have DDDs and love turtleneck sweaters and dresses. I usually do a pendant neckless or scarf to break up the area between my neck and boobs.

I live in South Dakota and love vests too, but not fur looking ones. I prefer the quilted equestrian style or the wool British menswear waistcoats. The vest layer really helps me keep warm but my arms are free to move.

At 62 I love low boots and big cozy cardigans. I got a few crews for underneath. I bought 2 gauzy scarves. Missing all these trends because of 19 and 2020 I did not buy ant trends. I am not giving up my almond shape boots or vans lol.

You made me chuckle when you talked about camouflage and how you thought many would disagree with you. I'm a veteran so wearing camouflage was never a choice when off duty when you wear it top to bottom all day! I always thought it was strange to see non-military people choose to wear camouflage prints. However, I do think the pink and gray combos are cute!

Camo.....is it military or is it hunting?
@kimcaplan79632 жыл бұрын
@@lindalowe4493 All the military services have a camouflage attire as their "operations" dress. Each service has their own name for it but all have a camouflage attire that is worn as their daily uniform. I guess since I have a military background I think military when I see camo 😂.
