One of my favorite fall to winter tops is a cowl neck sweater. It is very flattering. When it is very cold it Can be pulled up on the neck for warmth. Or it can be adjusted lower to frame the face. Comfortable and dressy.

I like simple, classic, high quality items. But I do change my jewelry and add scarves. I am a fan of making an effort. I see it as a positive. I worked in the fashion industry and wore what I considered beautiful but have changed to rarely wearing suits. I am much older and wear items that flatter my current body. I do make an effort. I appreciate others making an effort. To me it shows consideration and respect for everyone, including myself.

Skinny jeans are a staple in winter. I tuck them in my boots. I do own some leopard print flats. They are comfortable and look cute with a lot of outfits. Including the skinny jeans and a pretty solid sweater. Yes to Jackie O! Classics are a girls best friend.

THANK YOU❤ I have had some of my garments and hand bags for 25 years or more. They are classic. I hate the wide leg pants, torn shredded jeans, and high pointy toed heels.

You're correct about the trendy vs classic outfits. I was never into trendy - so i bought clothes from reputable shops (sometimes designers, sometimes well-maintained clothes - proper washing, proper laundry soap, proper ironing, proper hangers, proper storing). And one (actually two) of my long-lasting pieces are those buttoned down shirts like yours - iron-free, crease-free - 1 white, 1 light grey...circa 1996 😊

What I love about this channel is Valarie’s classic style. It works perfectly for her lifestyle. As viewers one can choose how we apply it to our own wardrobes. For myself personally, I run too warm to layer anything but can choose to add a necklace or scarf to add dimension to my wardrobe without overheating 🥵 I’m not really into trendy fashion I prefer to invest in well made classic pieces. I do follow the old adage of less is more!

I started to enjoy my wardrobe when I started eliminating prints. For pattern, I’m mostly stripes. I did keep a couple of high end blouses that were a sophisticated floral as statement pieces but my day to day is almost pattern free. I find it makes it so much easier to dress and it just makes me more comfortable. Like you, I’ve also reduced to buying on repeat the same silhouettes or items when something wears out regardless of how trends change. I buy what flatters my body the best.

As we age- and I’m fairly certain we all will we need to dress appropriate- not ugly but appropriate. Timeless pieces like the ones here are perfect - then we can add special occasion outfits as needed. But the idea needs to be classic style. And even if we aren’t needing any of the advice it’s great to have affirming opinions. ❤️

I believe animal print is a classic. l've had a leopard print belt, booties, and pony print jeans for over 7 years. I get lots of compliments whenever I pull them out and wear them. Not all at once...😊

I love your style. Over the years I have not worn scarves or necklaces. I have always felt somewhat guilty about that for whatever reason. Now I know I am not so out of step. Also the prints. So glad I found your channel!

I've always leaned to classic even in college I was a huge fan of blazers. As I'm getting older I'm learning which cuts work best for me. Ironically it led me to get rid of all my skinny jeans which do not flatter my body. So I was super happy the wider leg came back in style. I will not be buying skinny jeans when they come back as we all know they will. I love plaid and always have whether it's in or out I've always had plaid pieces. Thanks to your channel I've discovered the lady coat which is very flattering to my body type.

I ALWAYS end up with regrets over the trendy items I have purchased. I wear them once or twice and then they just take up room because I consistently reach for the classic, timeless pieces. Purchasing an inexpensive scarf in a trendy print to wear with an otherwise classic outfit has been my way to "fit in" without an investment in something else to sit in the closet.

All the outfits reflect perfection. The outfit of the "little black dress" with the jacket was what my daughter called my power outfit. 😊. That dress was so versatile that if I had to go from work to a cocktail with no time to change, I would discard the jacket and put on a strand of pearls and grab a clutch bag. Done. To this day, I keep a black sheath dress on hand.

Hi, Petra from Germany. I am like you. I wear what suits me with 60. High rise jeans, no thank you. Just your light colours would not work in my wet and cold climate. I love your not tuck in policy. I hate to tuck in. Jewellery, I love classic Bulgari stuff and I wear scarfs. Neck needs to be warm, but due to thyroid issues I can wear sweaters that are high on my throat. What would you wear in winter in Michigan? Especially for shoes. Michigan is close to my climate. Tschau Petra

Classics win every time. Animal print has always been a no for me, tacky is definitely what I’ve used to describe it. My skinny jeans are still in the closet, waiting to be tucked into boots when the temps drop. ❤️🧡🩷❄️

Agreed - people who don't live in a cold climate don't understand this. I will always keep a pair on hand for my snow boots!
