Indycars, Nascar, Modifieds, they all ran Trenton. Mods were the best!!!! Hammering down the backstretch, looks faster than the Indycars.

I lived in the Bromley section not far from the speedway. I can remember it like it was yesterday hearing those cars on a Sunday! As a kid I would ride my bike around the track . You could smell the rubber on the track, what great memories!

Nothing in the world sounded like pulling into the parking lot at Trenton and hearing mods scream around that track.Nothing else comes close.

In 1972 with some light showers during time trials Jan Opperman was in the Tant/Mitchell #11 Camaro modified. I can still hear the bellow of him coming down the front straight flat-out......and lifting so late I have no idea why he didn't go through that WWII surplus fence. Have never heard a sound like that since, echoing off those stands.

40+ unmuffled big blocks, the noise so loud that the air vibrated, you missed it. It never gets out of your blood.

I grew up a few blocks from this track and when I was a kid I would ride my bike to the backend of the track which was accessable from Klockner Rd behind The Click. We would watch through the fence and that unmistakable sound of the cars on Sunday's would alert us to a race.

I was just a Kid , but boy the sound of those big blocks screaming down the front stretch left a life long memory inprint...my uncle finished third in the 72 ROC driving the Hemi-Cuda sixty nine...

R.O.C. '73,'74,'75,and '76 were the four Greatest races I have ever seen eclipsed only by the R.O.C.s of '77 thru '79 on the BIG Track at Pocono. Although NASCAR called them "Limited Sportsmen" for a period early in the history of the "Grand Nationals" that would become Cup Cars, there has never been, and never will be, anything sportsman about Stock Car with no fenders and a quick change rear end powered by a Modified V8. They are purely MODIFIEDS and the are they Fathers of ALL stockcar racing. The mothers are STOCK . MODIFIEDS Forever. MODIEDS are the OLDEST, the FASTEST, and still the BEST Division in NASCAR. sdh Mod. #35 in CT

I am too young to have had the chance to visit Langhorne or Trenton. I have always wanted to see pics or videos of this track. Especially the Trenton back stretch or to know if the cars lifted as they went through the dog leg? I am glad I had the opportunities to get to a few Fleminton and Nazareth races. Man I still can't believe all those bigger tracks are gone.

A few years ago I saw an interview with Chris Economaki. He was making the point that when the factory built Midget cars started showing up, that it killed Midget racing because the race became a parade. The lack of diversity killed the sport. I would make the same point about auto racing, today, in general. NASCAR Cup: All the cars are the same, exactly. BORING. NASCAR Modified: The spec. is so tight the cars are almost the same. A few years ago I would watch the Modified when they were on TV. No more, when I found out that a car owner was fined and had points taken away because in post race inspection it was discovered that his drive shaft material was too thin. That was the last straw for me. F1: The spec. is so tight the cars may as well be the same.... I would like to see some technical diversity like there was years ago. Different engines, cars, tires. Make the teams build their cars. And, most of all, no team can have more than 2 cars. This would let the smaller teams have a chance at the big sponsors. One more thing. When a team has defined the formula they were going to use for their 2 cars, they could not change during the season. No more different car for a different track.

@ralph1396 I picked him as my favorite racer at East windsor speedway when we first went there. Unfortunatly my sister picked Stan Ploski as her favorite and he was a great driver so I got beat most of the time .

This was awesome, especially at the beginning when I got to see Pee Wee Griffin's car! He was later arrested for money laundering and was suspected of being involved with an international drug cartel, but hey, nobody's perfect.

I was young when I attended 2 of these events, and it was wild times at night in the camping section. Shopping cart races, shopping cart demolition derbys, streakers, it was like a circus.
