I cannot for the life of me understand why people become so fixated on owning and being seen wearing a "label" that they'll part with $900 dollars for a pair of glued together sandals that have not ONE stitch holding them together, have sub-standard materials used in the making, and decide they've made a good decision. I just don't get it. At best, that's a $50 pair of sandals. That said, fine work fellers. Always a pleasure to see something getting brought back to life and refreshed so well. God bless you both in your efforts. We missed that GSP too.

I 100% agree with you and Very well said $ 900.00 for walmart quality Sandals that's insane But on the flip side people that Blow and spend money like that will pay insane money for another new pair of Sandals or pay more money to get them repaired i say that's a win for poor and middle class person that do all the work robbing from the rich and giving back to the poor and start all over again

I wish we had such good shoe makers in Utrecht, Netherlands. I have a fairly new pair of light beige leather boots which I bought from a local Dutch brand. After wearing them for 1-2 years the sole just snapped in 2. The rest of the shoe is in perfect condition. I went to 3 different shoe makers, 2 of them just told me to buy new shoes instead of trying to get my soles changed. The third shoe maker told me to maybe just try to ask the brand itself to fix them. It's just a pity to throw away shoes that are in good condition because of an issue that I think should be fixable. Seeing you the magic that you do with restoring shoes is incredible and also helps with over consumption. Fix before you buy is so underrated in modern society.

Those look absolutely gorgeous once you were done with them. However, as many of others have commented, I can’t imagine paying $900 for a sandal of any kind. Essentially a sub-par foot bed with a leather strap over the top. To be honest, I would struggle to justify spending $900 for American made PNW boots that would be much more worth it.

I am amazed at how much people pay for shoes. But not really. I work with a few surgeons ( I am an Ortho-tech/Xray-tech, the guy who puts kids broken bones back in place). When we go to "dinners" for marketing. I see some doctors talking about their Allen Edmonds, Cleverleys, Ferragamos, and Loubs. Drives me crazy because I know and love the shoes. And from watching Trenton and Heath for a long time now, I can keep up with the conversation about their construction and care. I got a pair of Cole Hahn chukkas and pretty much just got a "sympathetic" look. Then I got used Beckett Simonon wholecuts only to have the local cobbler tell me they were toast and probably cheaper to buy a new pair. It is definitely a frustrating issue. Next time I save up for a used pair, I will just send them to you. LOL

For all the folks commenting the $900 price tag of the sandals. Don't forget when you buy these sandals you get a 2' x '3 battery powered blinking neon sign that says "I'M WEARING $900 HERMES SANDALS!!" that hangs conveniently around your next with an arrow pointing to the sandals. And the sign is USB rechargeable and it's FREE! When you put it in that perspective the sandals with the sign are really quite a value. 😁😁

I can't even begin to imagine having enough money to spend a sum like that on a pair of sandals! I'd only consider such a sum if the shoes were (a) substantial, actual shoes, and (b) custom fitted to my own feet. But that's never going to happen. If I came into that kind of money, I'd spend it on practical things like deferred (expensive) household maintenance and repairs!
@nononsenselogic26 күн бұрын
Those shoes are for "new money" buyers. The old money people that I know would have never owned these in the first place. To each their own. Regardless, nice craftsmanship to improve the original construction. The repair, in my opinion, is worth more than the actual sandal.

Very very surprised that the insole was paper. Hermes built their reputation on only using the best leather and other materials and hand sewing everything. Could it be that even they, with their ridiculous pricing, are starting to cut corners? Or, could it be that those are fakes? I know the fake Birkin bags are very nearly as good as the originals and it would take an expert to know the difference.
@rosscollins2910Ай бұрын
I am an amateur leather worker, a few years ago a discussion raving about their hand sewing came up on a blog. Shortly thereafter I was in Vegas and seen a Hermes store so I studied their work for about 20 minutes. IF they are hand sewn the craftsman made the same error on every 4th stitch throughout the entire bag. Birkin bag. Highly doubt they are hand sewn. For the price it better be perfect.
@joanreynolds955Ай бұрын
Hermes is notorious for their snob appeal. Their Birkin bags have a price tag like a house and (unless you’re a kartrashian) come with a a two-year-plus wait list.

My brother-in-law has the worst foot odor imaginable. I'm talking about an odor so intense that it could warrant calling in a hazardous decontamination company. He once took a pair of his dress shoes to a cobbler for a heel block repair, but the cobbler refused to work on them and insisted he take them out of his shop immediately. What do you do if you receive a pair of stinky shoes for repair? Beware, if he sees this he may send a couple of pairs to you.
