Happy New Years! Game is planned to release in 2022!
Over the past few years we have been very diligently working on Trepang2, and making sure we create the first person shooter we've always wanted to make, and we hope you all can also enjoy it as well. This is a compilation of silly stuff and gameplay (and bugs/features of course) while we were developing Trepang2 in 2021. More to come this year!

I love that the devs are so transparent about the goofy bugs and broken stuff they're working through in development. Large game developers portray their processes as smooth and flawless, denying the existence of problems or bugs. But these guys are showing us behind the curtain, warts and all. I really appreciate that transparency. It tells me that these folks care and are hard at work on delivering a finely polished and actually finished game. Plus, it just tickles me to be getting the (unofficial) F.E.A.R. sequel I always wanted.

The look of this game has pretty much everything I'd want from a shooter. Top secret facilities, super soldiers, evil experiments, supernatural horror, tactical soldiers, and a super shotgun. I don't usually buy games right when they release, but this might be an exception.

The ost, gameplay, enemies, guns and the environments look, feel and sound are extremely well done. It baffles me that in present day, devs can have about 6 different studios, removes campaign for more resources and still create a game that rivals cyberpunk and fallout 76 in bugs, bad mechanics and questionable decisions. Meanwhile Devs like you put in your heart and soul into these type of projects, acknowledging bugs that may or may not be features because of how ridiculous they are, a Soundtrack that rivals Doom and gameplay so good it makes you feel like an superhuman being. Keep it up Brandon and Co, this game will be an absolute nuclear blast.

there are no bugs, they are unintended features I remember Valve commentaries in their games stating some things they created came from bugs, so the enemies walking on walls could be a new type of enemy that moves on 4s on the walls and has a back mounted gun, the invisible gun could be turn into a telekinesis sort of power (but the character can't use guns), or a finger joke gun that goes pew pew

What engine are you guys running this project on? Btw, absolutely amazing footage so far. So much of what made F.E.A.R so good, the badass action and cold, brutal atmosphere of the corporate facilities and offices. I would love if you manage to surpass it with this game. I think you've already evolved on the gunplay and action, but it seems like the AI is some real struggle (as it usually is for devs). The only thing that I would add, is if it was a bit more creepy, via music, lighting, etc. Can't wait.

One thing I have noticed in the clips, it looks like you have the ability to turn off the overbrightness in slow motion? DO you think you can add that into the option menu for the end users to be able to have on or off? Personally, I think it looks a lot cleaner without it. Looks amazing, love the environmental design and the tease of the chain gun at the end 😈 Fark Yeah, I miss it from the early builds.

That proof of conecept theater mode should definitely be in the game. Seeing replays of your gameplay with a freeroam camera and being able to see that in real time even when you played in slow motion would be awesome.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but in the older demo when you slid weren't you able to see your legs? I noticed in this video they aren't there. Hope the finished game will have full body awareness, love when games have that little detail.

Oh we do have that yeah, there was a bug a couple months ago with the sliding and weapon leaning which is definitely prominent throughout most of these clips. It's fixed now, and we'll show more footage of that kind of stuff this year ♥

who knows, a console port is likely in the future, but for now we're just focused on a PC port. ♥

@@TREPANG2 well considering the current generation of consoles it could be easier because of the increase in power so it should reduce the burden a bit.

@@shinigami9851 There’s no reduction in burden when you develop for PC first. The game has to be fully optimized for potatoes before the devs start porting over to consoles, which would likely take place after launch once they’ve fixed launch bugs and collected money to buy the $2000 console dev kits needed to start porting.

It's honestly amazing to see smaller studios completely remake older cult classics such as the case with Ready or Not (a worthy successor of SWAT 4), and now we have the original F.E.A.R remade and cranked up to 11. I've been looking forward to this game ever since Alpha Beta Gamer and GmanLives did a video on it in 2019, and now we're getting it in 2022. It'll probably be the fastest pre-order/purchase I make haha

Might be a little late as it's not much longer till release day, but when I saw you pick up the mall cop after setting a grenade on him I got an idea. I think a cool mechanic would be for the more elite enemies to activate a Grenade on themselves if you take them hostage, forcing you to throw them early and denying you a meat shield. Just to add a layer to the combat and decision making and to make more of a difference between trash mobs and higher ranking enemies.
