I love how Death's final scream doesn't really register as pain, but as uncontrollable frustration and annoyance, as if to say "I literally can't believe this insignificant ant is killing me right now."
@kaelkirkby91917 ай бұрын
He likely isn't dead. I say this since earlier in the season he describes himself as a "function of the world". Now I take this to mean that if Death were to truly die than people would stop dying as the 'program' that enabled dying has now been deleted and is no longer possible. If this is in fact the case then instead of dying when the God killing knife pierced him he instead dissipated for lack of a better word as in he is still alive and exists but it would take a significant amount of time for him to piece himself back together into a physical form.

@@kaelkirkby9191While he is a function of the world, he’s not exactly necessary to maintain it with his presence. Think about it. Kill enough people on a large scale to never go hungry again. "You're just a human being" I find this line funny, 'cause I feel like the worldbuilding in this series has established that pretty much everything non-human isn't much more than a "thing" or function of the world. Yes, vampires hold territory and weave plots and march conquests, and yes, there are demons that can fully eviscerate someone with a single swipe of their arm, but in the grand scheme of things they are bound to fulfill a singular purpose, no matter how hard they might try to do otherwise. They are limited to those things. Either by their need to constantly feed on blood, by boundaries between worlds, by being physically incapable of interacting with the things they need to cause great change... But men are free to do as they do. It is always a human being that causes events to transpire.
@osmane888 Жыл бұрын
Yes, i kinda interpreted this message in the serie. In the end humans are pretty much the only ones able to go against their very nature and be the absolute best human can offer or the worse, the show really felt humanist to me but that's because i do want to believe in human capabilities of doing exceptional things, so the way i interprete the show is probably biased ahah
@romankvapil9184 Жыл бұрын
And that's what makes Isaac so interesting in the process because he ends up breaking that boundary by guiding his own army into something MORE than just monster, than just, "things". They're now building, they're gaining sapience, they're steadily having their own personality, and developing loyalty for him as their leader. That's a far greater accomplishment than any vampires or spirits had done on their own.
@johngaynor4363 Жыл бұрын
It's rather like Greek myths, where the gods are powerful but have no real agency. They need heroes to do their bidding, even though they should be able to deal with most issues like a minor errand.
@stimpsonjcat67 Жыл бұрын
The word is a catalyst. Belmont certainly qualifies.
@Zeoinx69 Жыл бұрын
I dare say its more then just that. Remember that the Castlevania lore heavily mirrors our own world from the time period, up and including the Roman Catholicism faith and symbology, giving rise to the fact that "holy water", actually has the power to purify the area that a demon cant touch without burning away from its touch. If we go deeper, humans are made in gods image, and thus we as humans are the inheritor to that power by will and faith within it. When Death declared "just human" he as a "thing" does not recognize the one who created him as well in the universe, though in other lore it is well established there is god, and even the devil at play in the universe. So "just human" basically reminded Trevor of that faith, and that the faith in who he is there to protect and existance as a whole allowed him to reach in and tap that power imo. It is showcased in the series, and fiction in general over and over with such a "trope".

I like that Death doesn't try to dodge, and only seems to block when the Morning Star actually hurts it. This is a being so full of itself, it literally calls itself Death. It believes itself immortal and invincible, so blocking or dodging are completely foreign concepts to it. Blocking would mean something could hurt it, dodging would mean it fears something touching it. It is so perfectly arrogant that, despite having plenty of time to dodge, it tanks the blow that kills it without a second thought.

The tiny detail that always gets me just before Trevor smiles peacefully, certain of what is going to happen next and fully accepting it, is the gentle twitch of Saint Germain's fingers. @@Serpentking789 You are absolutely right, and the cooler thing even, is that Germain's key had no souls left since Death had just eaten all of the souls inside it to become this huge and powerful. So the only possible way that Germain could have saved Trevor with the Infinite Corridor is if he used his own soul to open it, which makes Germain's death all the more poetic I think, he messed up really bad trying to revive Dracula and empowering Death, so he gave his own soul at his last moments to make at least something right for all his wrong doings. I just want everyone to know, this moment is exactly why this series absolutely nailed the video game to tv show/film adaptation. If you can make fans see things AND MAKE US think of the games from indirect references is the way. Blatantly shoehorning things in because you think fans will like it because it’s from the game hurts because it’s exactly that, shoehorning it in with no context or respect for the source material always hurts. Placing things in without direct or over focus works much better. When I heard Trevor talking about The Belmont Clan and their origins being old and French to then see a picture of Leon Belmont in the vault made me smile big. I didn’t need a 10 minute description of Leon, as soon as I saw the painting I immediately knew who it was.

I love how often they work in things that seem like they’re straight out of a videogame. Like in Season 2, when Belmont gets a weapon that’s a straight up upgrade in every way, the Morningstar. Or in this season, when he assembles an legendary quest item piece by piece by finding the parts of it scattered throughout the map. It’s just like when you do a side quest with multiple parts in a videogame that results in you getting an overpowered quest reward

In-game continuity: Morning Star whip is the upgraded form of the Vampire Killer. "You're just a human being" Understatement of the century. He's not just a human being... He's a Belmont.

Nah it's the perfect statement despite their mythology Belmonts are just human beings but they are the best a human being can be people ready to die at a moments notice to save strangers to save criminals, to save everyone just for the sake of humanity itself Trevor is just a human being but that's all that's needed
@estebanpineros9409 Жыл бұрын
Additionally, saying "JUST" a human being is also an understatement. This entire season seems to have that motif running in the background, about humans being far more fearsome creatures than what most supernatural beings give them credit for. Belmont brings down Death, Hector tricks the vampire sisters, the villagers stand up to the enroaching vampire army and rattle even the likes of Striga with their determination to fight to the last man, and Isaac destroys the vampire fortress and slaughters Carmilla. Every time, the humans are underestiamted, treated like lesser beings, and every time, the big bad monster in the darkness gets its teeth kicked in for their trouble.

The build up to this was amazing. This series in one word: "rewarding". An absolute masterclass in animation, music and video game adaptation. I just realized something. At 1:25, you can see Trevor holding the dagger in a reverse grip. In season 3, when he fought the mad monks, one of them was holding his dagger in a reverse grip, and Trevor commented that you can tell from his way of holding the weapon that the man is a professional assassin. However, just before stabbing Death, at 1:54, he switches to a straight grip. In context of that scene in S3, you can tell this simple movement symbolizes Trevor's growth from an unscrupulous, embittered anti-hero - a "killer", as he introduces himself to Death - to a true hero.

Castlevania has the best animation of any show I've ever seen I can't imagine how long it must've taken in so glad that the people who worked on this actually cared about the project God bless their souls and I look forward to hopefully more animated by them

The best animation ? Hell no, even 16-years old animators can beat professionals ( look up Hyun's Dojo ) But the most " detailed " ? Hell yes, almost every frame looks like a wallpaper, and that's amazing ( even though the budget should've gone into smoother animations instead )

@@xxjojoxx-35i totally missed this comment but after much exploring (aka I watched the fate series LOL) I agree with your comment It def is the most detailed but not the best! Also I'll look into the animator you recommended!

"I am Trevor Belmont. House of Belmont. And I've never lost a fight to man, nor fucking beast." he should've added death to that sentence.

If one looks closely before Trevor Belmont stabbed death to his inevitable doom, you can see the Saint Germain with his last ounce of strength touch the infinite corridor in other words saving Trevor Belmont's life before he dies from his mortal wounds.

Death has been winning over his life since his family was killed. It's only now Trevor is strong enough to start taking back his life, sick of the despair and death following everywhere he goes. His fight with Death isn't just literal, but symbolic.
