I love that Trevor is back to his native language/accent, it must be freeing. I’ve seen him on stage, at the Daily Show and at the NAACP Imagine award dinner. The last two minutes of this video is exactly the way I perceive things in life . I learnt long time ago, that life is literally based on odds. Therefore, there should be room for outcomes in any situation. It saves you from feeling disappointed or depressed . Its not expecting disappointments, it s knowing that you'll be okay with whatever the outcome is.

The end part about not caring so much and not having expectations is a wise philosophy and can really change your attitude. SO GREAT to see this bunch AND Trevor, who used to make me giggle at night, though I was miserably depressed about how my family had fallen down the Q rabbit hole and we lived completely different realities, on two separate floors of the same house. Trevor made me giggle in my pillow, and I was shocked because I never anticipated them. Bless you all!

Great interview! Two things I learned: 1)Trevor really needed a break (or an escape) from NY - What outsiders see as a great city to be in is actually not as good as it seems to be. - Being away from home (SA) made him realize how much he misses the little things. 2) He's learned how to tamper expectations - Me and my friend have a saying/motto: "Hope for the best, but expect the worse" lol

I understand Trevor's way of thinking because that's the exact same way I approach everything. I never go into things expecting success because the pain and disappointment I would feel afterwards when expecting success and things go wrong really sucks. Once I realized that everything in life is literally based on odds (everything is a lottery) and the likeliest outcome is failure it becomes easier to brush it off and move on when you fail or things don't go well
