Trevor is actually one of the most intelligent gta characters, he he has a great understanding of people, he is a good psychologist, he knows how to build a criminal business and organize people, because who were Ron and Wade before they met him? junkies and jackasses, only with the help of Trevor they got a lot of money and yeah, illegal, but still work, he knows how to wait for the moment when it is best to make his move, the war between him and Johnny would have started sooner or later anyway, it was only a matter of time, having fucked his girlfriend he provoked him, thereby making himself the defending party in the conflict and also once again confirmed his image of a psychopath by brutaly killing Johnny and showing everyone what happens when you cross his path Trevor is not crazy, and he definitely has mental problems and sometimes problems with anger control, but he is not nearly as crazy as everyone thinks. The FIB wasn’t even involved tho, Dave just happens to be really good friend with one of the most wanted criminals, and they make a deal to get Michael out of the game, they make the whole world and the FIB believe Dave killed Michael and Trevor, and Brad is convicted and pays for everyone’s actions, but plan goes wrong and Dave does kill Michael but instead kills Brad and Trevor isn’t convicted he escapes but Michael gets out, through the whole game Michael is afraid of FIB knowing he’s alive and the deal he did with Dave, literally that’s what Steve threatens him with, and Michael is also surprised when Lester tells him that he already found out about everything. Taking for a factor: if Brad wasn't there then Trevor would have been shot. The whole story line would have still happened because Michael would still have met Franklin and pulled down the mansion, he would still have done the jewel store heist and then gotten back involved with the FIB because Steven Haines is there that looks over Dave's files and then all the stuff with Merryweather and the IAA would all lead to the stand off in the Wrap Up, in which case Trevor wouldn't have been there to save Michael. Who is to say Michael would have made it out but there is for certain that Trevor wouldn't have been there to shoot the helicopter. Potentially GTA's story would be cut short with Michael dying. Franklin may have also died on the deal where Lamar, Franklin and Trevor go to buy drugs and get ripped off and ambushed, only finding out the brick was a fake because trevor knew hustlers. But there may just be the fact that GTA's story would play out the same just without Trevor helping along the way and interruption with Bury The Hatchet.
