Agreed. If it wasn't for the michigan, he wouldn't be on it, no offense to him. Great player. Makar was THE star of the year and deserved it most. Style seems to always be the deciding factor, i.e. back when Subban got the cover, Matthews twice in like 3 years for his fashion focus.

Would have loved it been an Avalanche player since I'm a big fan. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had put a Lightning player on the cover since they went to the Cup final 3 straight years. Shoot in 2015 or 2016 they put Jonathan Toews on the cover for winning 3 Cups in 5 years. Patrick Kane was suppose to be on the cover but since they had off the ice issues with Kane they took him off the cover.

Why Makar wasn't on the cover is insulting. This year Makar won the Norris, Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup and what has Zegras done this season. Ducks didn't make the playoffs. He did an over the shoulder goal, cool. Makar and MacKinnon has done that in the regular season and in the playoffs. Matthew's has done the same. That picture is just plain stupid. Sarah Nurse broke the record for most assists during an ice hockey game in Olympic history, she broke the record for best +/- during an ice hockey game in Olympic history, she won Olympic gold this year in a game that was watched by more people than any NHL game this season with the sole exception of Game 6 in the Stanley Cup Final. Trevor Zegras is a good kid with a lot of talent, but in terms of individual and team records Sarah Nurse has him beat this year by quite a large margin.
