Dang! Feel like this every day. My Dad committed suicide when I was 13. I’m 31 now and married with a beautiful family. My Mom has since passed. I took my oldest, he’s 10, for a 1:1 day last weekend so we could talk about my Dad. I never felt it was appropriate to tell him the truth, but felt he was old enough now. After I told him, he said “Mom, is it hard for you? To have a family? Does it make you sad when we’re with Nana & Papa? (My in-laws who we spend so much time with)” I told him, “A little buddy, but in a good way. It’s ok to miss what was and still be really grateful for where you are.”
