I am originally from Edmonton and watched the powerhouse Green and Gold. Video does not do justice to just how amazing Warren Moon was. Thank you #1 for the amazing memories.

i grew up in edmonton, watchin the esks from the days dating back to being a knot hole member as a kid sitting in the end zone in clarke stadium and was a season ticket holder for years including the years of warren moon and the string of cups.... and yes, he was superb... my first and lasting impression of him on the field was that he threw the "cleanest, tightest, most consistent, efficient, and 'catchable' spiral, i'd ever seen"... but my 'favorite memory' of him, was off the field.... my (former) wife and i were having dinner in a place called the 'steak loft', pretty much rated as the top eatery in town.... and a couple of tables away was this impeccably dressed young man and his young wife, laughing and relaxed, obviously enjoying each other's company..... it was his rookie year, he wasn't even the starter yet, wilkie was still it, i'd bet that 99 percent of the people in the place didn't even know who he was yet (my wife didn't until i told her).... and i said "look at those two... great.... and look at the self-confidence and self-awareness that kid has..... he's going to take the team which campbell and wilkie and lemmerman and kepley have helped build into a team which is a true 'team' and ready for him, and do big things with it....."... you could see it in him, even off the field..... and, he was in the right place at the right time.....likely helped by the tutelage of hugh campbell and wilkie et al, he not only had the skills, he also learned/understood his job on the field as the quarterback wasn't to try to do it all himself, he was on the field with 11 other guys, and his job, was to coordinate and use the skills of every one of 'em.... he was confident, but not 'egotistical', he was 'coachable'..... he truly grasped the truth in the saying there's no "i" in "team... and getting to sit in commonwealth and watch that team perform in person in front of the huge crowds they attracted at that point in time, was awesome....

Great interview. I grew up in Buffalo, 2 blocks from the Canadian border, so l had the luxury to watch Warren play with the Eskimos on TV. I still believe that Edmonton team was Better than most NFL teams. I also remember the Hamilton TiCats beating the Bills in a 1960s pre-season game. But I always known Warren Moon was the Best pro QB ever. His combined NFL/CFL stats are mind blowing!

One of the Best Throwers of the Football ever period~! Sad he never got that chance for A ring~! never forget when somehow Buffalo made that Comeback , My Older Brother had to leave for work before Half time ,and told me Buffalo was gonna come back and WIN~! he admitted later he never really thought it was going to happen ~! 🙄😅

I grew up in Edmonton and really started paying attention to sports at the time Warren Moon played there. A great time to be an Edmonton fan (not like last year).

That's awesome. What was the football atmosphere like in Edmonton? Was Warren pretty popular in Canada?

@@drvn8 He was very popular. we were sad to see him go, but the reality of the CFL is that players will follow the money if they can make it down south. The atmosphere was pretty good in Edmonton back then. Now, the team has been pretty bad for a few years and people have been voting with their feet. 😞
