They say самураи a few times. Google says it means samurai but that wouldn't make any sense and the lyrics I found say "И летели наземь самураи" means "And the enemy troop flew to the ground." Do you know what самураи refers to? Could it be referring to to russo-japanese war?

It could be... I'm not exactly an expert. my Russian is mediocre to say the least.

I believe this song refers to the battles of Khalkhin Gol, or as the Japanese call it the Nomonhan Incident, around summer 1939. That would mean those three tankers' most probable vehicle would be a BT tank.

Just happened to come across some extra information. I always knew this song is originally from a movie, but TIL the movie is called Трактористы. It's a comedy and it can be found here on KZbin with subtitles.
