I'm about 40 hours in. Fantastic game, already looking forward to my next playthrough. Such a good time. The only thing I wish they could have done differently is having their pictures show up when someone is talking so it's not all just pixel art during cut scenes. Kinda like Persona or Fire Emblem. They created such wonderful art for the game, might as well use it right?

I pre-ordered this game as soon as I could after the first demo from last year. The first three chapter demo that dropped after the February Nintendo Direct confirmed that i’d done the right thing. I stopped playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus as soon as I received this on release day. Absolutely loving it, the story is amazing!

When I first saw the early footage of _'Triangle Strategy',_ I knew the game was gonna be special. When I played it and beat it, it was really satisfying and it became a favorite game of mine. Still, for me personally, the greatest SRPG I've ever played would have to be _'FRONT MISSION 3'._ I bought _'FRONT MISSION 1st: Remake'_ and loved it and now, I just finished downloading _'FRONT MISSION 2: Remake'_ which was released just today. Can't wait to play this chapter in the series since it was never released outside of Japan before! Now, the hard part comes - waiting for the release of _'FRONT MISSION 3: Remake'_ (my favorite in the FM series) coming next year (hopefully)!...

OJ, I feel you man. I've been playing nothing but Triangle Strategy. I think the decisions in this game are more in line with Alpha Protocol than Mass Effect. They are a bit more impactful than Mass Effect's choices IMO. Anybody that remotely enjoys SRPGs needs to get this game right now. I still think they should have titled the game Scales of Conviction though.

Steelbooks are always a special bonus in these collectors editions. I hope S-E starts releasing these in the US. TS is a what I had always hoped Shining Force would become and what FFT should have become, as opposed to a gimmick-fest of different handicaps in every fight.

About 45 hours in, on the last battle and chose the Frederica's ending. Straight addicted too, looking forward to new game plus and getting the golden route and true ending!!! Very hooked, love the story and can't wait to see all the paths I haven't taken yet. Wish I had more time or energy to play more after work but sometimes ya gotta just vedge and watch TV.

excellent vid!! special edition looks super nice. i don’t blame you dropping elden ring for this - i did the same! Triangle is so much easier to get invested in because it’s got a low barrier to entry and an interesting story that grasps you within the first couple of chapters, in my opinion…whereas, Elden Ring requires me to be super zoned in and focused in order for me to have fun with it just because of the nature of the combat. Plus, TS is on the Switch which makes it far more accessible to just pick up and play in short bursts.

I don't want to say any spoilers here, but the book design mirrors a book in the game that is significant in the plot. I really liked that and thought it was really cool! I wish they had released this special edition in the US because I would have pre-ordered one for sure.

I am 40 hours into this game and I absolutely love it. I played demo last year and loved it even though so much of the game was unexplained. It is my favorite strategy game of all time. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Each time I play, I am gone for hours. I want to know every character and the depth of play has been like no other. Completely agree with you on this one.

Wow, the special tactician edition, really considering to get it, I knew it was bringing a real deck of cards, one of the main reasons I want it :D. Also, I totally agree with you, it is probably the best game in the year so far!, and definitely now one of my favorite games for the Switch, my first SRPG game and I am happy it was my entry game for the genre :), I've already put almost the same time than you, ~60 hours, but in normal mode and I am already going through the new game+ mode taking other path in the story, after which I will switch to hard mode; also the story is just amazing, I am captivated by it, the ending let me wanting for the sequel RIGHT away!, sadly might need to wait for it like 3~4 years 😂, anyway, Awesome video.

I can’t wait though, my first RPG was shining force so that’s easily one of the best SRPGs as it was one of the first that I know of anyway. I do really like this game despite some gripes I have with it. FFT War of the Lions is still my top though. But that is mostly because of gameplay and some things that win it over for me. As far as the TP system, I love it.

Vandal Hearts will forever be my favourite SRPG. The story was great, the battles with their unique conditions interesting and having to choose which class to upgrade into made for replayability. Glad to see it mentioned.

Well OJ you just convinced me to buy this game twice lmao. Bought it at launch but now I really want that collectors edition! The game is fantastic, my only real gripe I have is the damage balancing in Normal difficulty doesn't feel as good to me as it does in Fire Emblem (feels like my characters always do way less than enemies even at similar levels) but I knocked it down to Easy and it feels much better now. I REALLY wish they'd spent more time on the English VO's though. So many characters' lines are so poorly delivered it seems like they were literally handed a piece of paper with their lines and they just read through them like they were reading in front of their high school English class. I *know* SE has the money to invest in better quality voice acting so its just a shame for the game to release with such a flaw.

I also got that impression during the first couple of battles in normal mode, but it's something that pushes you a bit to really strategize since the beginning of the game, also don't hesitate the use HP items, they helped me a lot during the the first rounds.

Really amazing gameplay! story was good enough for me but didnt really stand out. Im now on my NG+ playthrough and I have to say one thing I really dont like is the experience scaling. It really doesnt matter who gets the kills because you gonna get enough experience for everything else, even 100 exp just for using an item if you are underleveld.

Triangle Strategy is better than Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I'm 60 hours in currently, and feel incredibly confident in that claim. . . I say that not to undermine Three Houses, but to say that if you were a fan of that game, you should seriously consider hopping into TS. Not only that, it's just an excellent game without any comparisons beside it. I pray the game finds its way into peoples hands and doesn't underperform, because it's the best game no one is really talking about right now. Side note: Would have loved that special edition to have released in the states. . . I copped Octopath's when it released, so I feel a bit duped about NoA not giving us Triangle's.

is a great game with great history but i would say i miss a few thing like more crafting and options to improve your character also like class changing would be great for this because farming here is way to ez and you dont know what to do with so much gold and kudo you got

First of all, it's one die, two dice. Being an irregular plural, plus most traditional games using two of them, some even more, few just one, people ended up forgetting the singular. Anyway, never "two die". And I decided against getting this collectors' edition. Mostly because I missed out on the Octopath Traveler one and I tend to be all or nothing when it comes to collecting stuff. But I don't really regret it, either. Lots of cool stuff, but too much of it not actually useful (and I include display as a genuine use). When something comes with cards, it's always a standard set, which are always too nice (and irreplaceable) to play with. Unless maybe you sleeve them, but then they don't fit into their box anymore. I actually miss the PS3 era of steelbooks when they came with the disks inside. Technically you get "more" with the regular case bundled in, but to me it's just wasteful. And on that note, individually packaged dice? That's peak Japanese. And not in a good way. Anyway, they're the only part I might actually use, but I already have multiple times more dice than I can hope to count.

Im already at 150 hr! I can't say Its my favorite tactics game, but its pretty damn close. FE3H is still my prefered game, but back to TS... The story is really good. It hits hard and makes you feel invested, and the replayability is solid. I like how every unit is unique! I prefer the ability to customize movesets, but designated roles make for more fleshed out characters, and like I said I loved the stories this game tells. On my golden route 4th playthrough and I know Im going to pick this game up a few more times until the next FE comes out. ^-^

I did not expect the game to be that good! The story and decisions are fantastic. The only criticism I have is that character progression is a bit boring. Luckily it has some of the most unique classes in the genre to balance this out (a ladder-class? That's so cool)

For me, it’s the complete opposite. I haven’t taken the shrink wrap off the game because Elden ring is so addicting. I just hit lvl 245 on my first play through. My character is a beast!

There's a base camp, there you have to spend resources leveling up characters, building up your characters to the way you want them to fight. Creation of a combat team. How you level up, how you spend money to buy perks, all those things are the strategic part of the game. The battles that you get into are the tactical parts

Three houses is still better. Triangle strategys basic strategy comes down to ball up and wait and pick enemies off. Utilty is so strong in TS that making sure the enemy doesn't get a turn is more important than planning out your actual position and tactics. Like it's good that literally every character is viable but it also means you're limited to dpecific strategies where fire emblem is much more like chess in that each character has his own strengths but they all ultimately kill the enemy

Honestly I'm finding myself more interested in Triangle Strategy than Elden Ring myself. Not even that far into it but yeah I agree, the story in this is very good. Elden Ring is amazing but I've played a ton of Dark Souls already. Haven't had a decent narrative RPG since EA bought Bioware. Maybe ... Witcher 3 side stories were really good but the overarching plot was pretty basic. Also how dare you betray FFTactics!? Unprecedented! Unforgivable! Unsubbing!

Loved the game but it I felt like half of the battles were training battles. Plus some choices are just stupid and not really impacting on what follows. One good thing is that you can really use the characters you like the most in almost every situation.

I love the battles in Triangle strategy. The variety of character design + map level design is AMAZING. Battles might even be more fun than Fire Emblem. BUT, the story really slogs along for me. The pacing isn’t great and I don’t really see the connection of my path to the choices I’m making. Maybe on another playthrough?
