Approximately 10-15 years ago, my friends, colleagues, and I frequently traveled to Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA. We have never seen slots as loose as they were then. You could just hear winning alarms sounding off every few seconds. Unfortunately, that changed a few years later and now you still hear those winning alarms....but not as frequent. This tells me each casino or tribe can set their machines as they desire to continue running their businesses. Navajo casinos in AZ and NM (yes, New Mexico) is another example that a few years ago I notice the frequent winnings from slot machines. Again, that changed in 2023 when I noticed the less frequency of winnings. Still, I do believe you have better odds of winning in tribal casinos than in the casinos on the Vegas Strip.

Hey cowboy, I was at the Caesars high limit room, walked pass the 500 dollars machines and sat down at the pinball machine, chose the one dollar amount( I play penny machines) so I was a little scared. I Put 100 dollars and bet 10 dollars. As the screen showed my money disappear in front of my eyes, I mumbled “ Damn cowboy”. When it reached 30 dollars , I got the free games. I love my VGT'S, and the few Ainsworths. Would love to find more old school 3 reel that were some you always mention being low volatile 3-reels. Like double diamonds, or 5 line 3 reels in new old or new cabinets. It’s so true Arizona tribal casinos give good payouts, played casino Arizona walking stick and got a big payout, and I got one at the other casino Arizona as well. I go to the tribal casinos in San Diego county and at least at sycuan and Jamul I’ve only lost money and when I get bonuses at the machines they don’t pay much at all. On the other hand, aguas calientes in Palm Springs has pretty much always paid me out decently big jackpots. So yeah the tribal casinos are different but some do pay out great.

My uncle use to work on slot machines. He said tribes usually take 30% of winnings. While Vegas is only allowed to take 5% by law.

That’s wrong, Nevada requires a minimum of 75%, but most set their machines anywhere from 85% to 98% depending on denomination. The statement about tribes is inaccurate- although some tribes might set it that low, that doesn’t go for all tribes. Most are very competitive with Vegas if not better.

Regarding the tribal and regulations, it's all about the state you play in and the compact rules. There's a huge difference between states and how much actual regulation guess on. Oklahoma has next to nothing going on regarding regulation, that's why they took the compact negotiation all the way to the supreme Court.

I am in Washington State and we only have tribal casino's so I gamble mostly at them but I've also gambled in Canada, Oregon, California and Nevada and I can't say that I've ever noticed a huge difference. Looks like the double gold pinball has made its way to a lot of the high limit rooms. So far. Mandalay bay, luxor, nyny, got the new block of 4 machines. 2 double gold pinball and 2 new top dollar machines. Working my way the strip now lol. Thanks for all the good info u guys put out. I have the best luck on those games, I try to build up my bank roll on $5 denom. Then I'll play $10 denom. Somebody's winning alright....high rollers. At Choctaw it seems like the people betting between 20 and 50 bucks a spin are the ones winning. The quarter and dollar machines rarely hit.

People on lower denoms are typically more casual gamblers and ironically most likely to be playing with a smaller bankroll in terms of times the bet. E.g., playing a nickel machine's $1/spin with $100 would equate to a $10/spin machine with only $1000. High limit and more educated players use more realistic bankroll ratios.

In wisconsin hochunk madison class 2 slots pays 95% where hochunk Wisconsin dells is class 3 but pays out about 88-90 % I've had alot better luck at class 2 95% casino

My experience with Morongo and Yaamava is their slots are very tight. They are not required to disclose their payback percentages and have refused to disclose them when asked. The standard reply, is they pay out according to industry standards, whatever that means. Granted other Tribal casinos could pay out better. They have introduced slot machines now that have a lots of bells and whistles, that is bonus rounds but, after 20, 30 bonus spins, you end up with only $5 or $10 for your troubles.

What you are describing are high volatility machines, which has nothing to do with being tight or payback percentage being low. Those just don't pay out well on average - takes awhile before a big potential hit could come.

I have personally left with more money than I arrived with on 4 separate occasions at Yaamava. Its all timing and luck. You need to accept that you may leave without or less than what you showed up with, thats gambling. You can also lose money in Vegas or any casino where they do release their numbers. But if you feel better losing because they do in fact release their numbers, all power to you

Also, one last point. Yaamava recently purchased the Palms in Las Vegas. They are the first Native tribe to own a casino in Las Vegas. So maybe, in the future, check the palms numbers and you can take a guess how they pay out at Yaamava

No. You are wrong because casinos which are sort of monopolies in California, they figure that you will gamble in their casinos as opposed to driving to Las Vegas which is 300 miles away. Return to player they will not tell you even if players ask them and you do not hide something unless, you have something to hide.

It’s a standard practice for tribes not to disclose that. Just as Marc said as well, that’s not the most important factor. Each tribe is going to be different, so if your having bad experiences at some of your local casinos or have a firm held belief on them, pick another property.
