TRIBAL Hike in Taroko into the Mountains | 12 Days in Taiwan EP4

Episode 4 features our two day adventure hike in Taroko National Park which led us up various trails to eventually get to a homestay with Truku tribe member whom we call "Ah Ma". Spitting with rain almost all the way through, the biggest challenge was coming back down but a little bit of perseverance and wobbly legs got us down to the Shakadang Trail. As we learned later from our guide, Sam, this hike wasn't for beginners!
Of course an episode wouldn't be complete without some sort of train drama as we tried to get back to Taipei and of course more eating once we got there.

Thanks Arienne! I know right? The crazy thing is that Ah Ma started way later than we did on the trail, made it up before we did and also had to carry all of the food up. Always so impressed by those that have thrived living up in the mountains. One more ep to go!

Haha interesting, I just stopped at the entrance of the dali datong trail this summer (ad: it's my today's episode), so I'm glad to have the opportunity to see what's next! The spiders are really huge. But with this rush travel you missed a lot when you go deeper in Taroko, including a natural hotspring kinda destroyed but still worth visiting! I really enjoy your videography, it's different of what I usually like but it's very clean and pro! And I totally respect you for hiking with all the material on your back!

Thanks Olivier! Yes I didn't get a chance to talk about it much in the video but I did come out of it a little disappointed we didn't see the actual Taroko Gorge part about the park. It was certainly an unconventional way to do Taroko for sure...and definitely much more challenging haha! Glad you enjoyed this one :)
