Thanksgiving traditions differ in various states and regions based on the local cuisine and history. There are also different family traditions. For instance, in my family we eat sweet potato pie instead of pumpkin pie and/or candied sweet potatoes rather than mashed potatoes. We also don't like turkey in my family so we're more likely to bake a hen.

The gravy should be thick with sliced boiled eggs and the giblets (liver, heart, and gizzard) from the bird, boiled, chopped fine and added to the gravy. The neck of the bird should be boiled with the giblets and stripped of some meat to shred fine and add to the gravy as well. The broth created by boiling these things naturally goes into the gravy, if the recipe you're using calls for broth or water. Are the guys allowed to eat giblets? I never thought about that before.

Sure. Like the the other comments say, its not the typical Thanksgiving meal. But that's the beauty of it. A Thanksgiving meal can be whatever you want. As long as you're sharing it with friends and family, it's a Thanksgiving meal. The food isn't the point of Thanksgiving. Just an added bonus
@swedishshortsnout5610 Жыл бұрын
True, but if you're going to label a video as an "American Thanksgiving Dinner," especially to showcase a first impression, you should add more traditional dishes. The point isn't to hand them Pakistani food and call it a Thanksgiving dinner. Omitting gravy, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, cornbread, sweet potato casserole, cranberry relish, and any kind of dessert, and then adding donuts to the table, is ridiculous. Just having turkey in a meal does not equal Thanksgiving dinner.

I think just about anyone who watches your channel would gladly share a favorite Thanksgiving dish with you. My mom always did a relish plate or plates. Yesterday the family polished off all the plates we made while my husband and I busted out the turkey and fixings. It was selections of olives and pickles, all the deviled eggs 🥚 on earth 😂, vegetable plates and dip and something sweet and something salty. Deviled eggs are easy to make if you just use a piping bag. Don’t forget a sprinkle of Paprika on top of the eggs for color and a little spice. Drinks are a whole other side category. Don’t forget to consider everyone’s needs at the dinner. Hospitality is key. 🔑 America actually worked very hard to make this holiday up. It took acts of congress and ladies magazines to establish it. Remember we are only around 200 years old. This took work. Even the turkey was hotly debated. It was almost our national bird. 🦅 😂 Enjoy 😉

Many foods vary from family to family, but I stand firm on Gravy, stuffing, Cranberry sauce, Sweet potatoes(in any form), and a Pie( apple, pecan, pumpkin, or sweet potato). Those are the foods we all seem to agree on regardless of preparation. This is a food-tasting channel after all and although this is a lovely meal, I don't think it should be represented as an American Thanksgiving spread unless one of the Pilgrims was a "Dunkin",(Sorry I just can't get over the doughnuts.) Plus wouldn't you love to see Chaudhary eating food smothered in gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, and sweet/tart cranberry sauce? His expressions of joy would be priceless. 🥰🥰 Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

While I appreciate your desire to see them eat these foods next thanksgiving, given their location, it is very probable that they can’t source a lot of these ingredients which for yourself are a given. I’m thinking especially of the turkey, yams/sweet potatoes cranberries and even the halal approved marshmallows. You might have to organise a crowd sourced food parcel delivery for them with some recipes/suggestions a week or so early so they could attempt a more realistic rendition of a traditional American thanksgiving dinner.

I am thankful that this channel was created so that these wonderful people can experience & enjoy things that they otherwise would never be able to that us westerners take for granted. I'm also thankful that because of this channel I have learned more about the culture, traditions and lifestyle of the Pakistani people. I loved Mr Chaudhary's reaction when the cork popped out of the bottle of wine. It made me think that it would be wonderful for an upcoming video if they could indulge in another American custom. On New Year's eve at the stroke of midnight, many of us pop open a bottle of Champagne to celebrate and toast in the New Year. Confetti, streamers, horns & noise makers are also traditional. There were traditional foods missing from the Thanksgiving meal that hopefully the panel can try at some point. Green bean casserole, deviled eggs, gravy made from the turkey drippings, stuffing (also called dressing), candied yams, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and sweet potato pie.

I made homemade cranberry sauce this time around. It's really good, and so easy. My recipe gets a good slug of sweet red wine - I know the guys aren't supposed to drink it, but can they have a sauce that was cooked with it? The booze cooks out of it, but the sweet red flavor left behind does a nice dance with the orange juice and they both blend marvelously in when the cranberries all pop open. It gets chicken broth and a bit of sugar, too. Chinese rock sugar is extraordinary for this if you have it. It's a really good cranberry sauce.

@bobbiejojackson9448 Жыл бұрын
@@billstill1794There's no "misinformation" here. It's just good people doing the best they can with what they have available. I'm sure that the turkey alone was quite expensive, since it's not at all a commonly available form of poultry in Pakistan. I truly don't understand why some people seem to think that everything that can be found in Western countries, is somehow widely available in other countries. If you've done any research into this channel, you'd know that it's run by people who actually came from the same type of poor rural villages as the reactors. The reason they started it, wasn't to be absolutely perfect with every detail about Western cultures and cuisines. It was created in the hope that it would build bridges between countries and cultures, as well as a way to show that we're all more alike than we realize. To narrow the meaning of this channel down to whether or not they get every single detail right, is truly doing a great disservice to the original mission of the channel, to the participants and to the viewers. I thought they did an excellent job of showing these gentlemen a glimpse into a uniquely American tradition. @@bobbiejojackson9448 It's definitely either pure misinformation or laziness. Nobody is asking for perfection, just the barest hint of a resemblance to Thanksgiving other than eating turkey and potatoes. They have sweet potatoes in Pakistan. They have the bread, onion, butter, and herbs to make a quick version of stuffing. Lentils like peas are staple protein sources in a Pakistani diet. They can make a bad version of cranberry relish from dried cranberries, which is found everywhere in Pakistan. It takes about 20 minutes to make gravy from scratch with flour, water, milk, fat drippings, stock, etc. The people in the comments who are saying they don't have access to this food don't know what they are talking about. They don't live in some hut in a ditch in the middle of nowhere. They have a proper apartment style house with a large kitchen, washroom, a TV, etc.

As the many comments indicate, there is no ONE collection of foods that make a traditional Thanksgiving meal. While there are some mainstay foods & dishes served throughout the United States on Thanksgiving, different regions of the U.S., as well as different families, all have different traditions, and new generations often add new traditions. In short, there is no one "correct" traditional Thanksgiving meal, and yours looks fantastic. Best wishes to everyone at TPT, and to everyone who reads this. Thanksgiving in America is to give thanks to Almighty God so that he will bless our country. Sadly it has been forgotten. Everyone needs Gods favor. But that’s what this holiday is all about.

many things missing. pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, yams or sweet potatoes, biscuits or dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy... Soon they will come to USA to experience all the different tastes we have to offer.

Yeah this was not an traditional American Thanksgiving dinner.I have never seen any of these side dishes served at Thanksgiving.There is nothing wrong with having those foods but it isn’t a reposition of the traditional meal.

My favorite dish for thanksgiving is the stuffing/dressing covered in turkey gravy.

What I cannot get over about these lovely gentlemen is how grateful they are - always for the food they’re trying. They seem so kind it would be wonderful to meet them.
