For Punjabi speakers, the name 'chimichanga' is indeed hilarious! We get so many variations out of it and Punjabi alternatives! You could see their immediate reaction to it! And good too see Mexican cuisine still the closest to Pakistani cuisine with each dish they try. Ad Gul Sher found it 'sexy' 🤣🤣🤣

The chimichanga technically isn't a Mexican dish because it was invented in Tucson, Arizona, at El Charro restaurant in the 1950s (some debate this, but it is the most accepted origin story). Anyway, I live in Tucson and we do have a lot of foods here that are Mexican inspired, but Arizona born (like Sonoran hot dogs, too).

Making something similar would be easy. Use a cooked curry and a thin flexible wheat flatbread. Tortillas have shortening or butter and are rolled with a rolling pin which makes them hold together and not tear easily. A good rolling up tortilla has a slightly leathery feel after toasting on a dry griddle. If the curry is very wet add a little cooked rice in the bread with the filling. The trick is the folding. Make a log shape of the filling that is a little off center and a finger wideness from any short edge. Fold into the short ends of the log sides of the bread and hold while turning the narrower side towards the wide one in a tight roll but don't squeeze the filling out. You now have a burrito. Place seam side down in a pan with hot oil to set the seam and gently turn to brown all sides and you have a chimichanga. The burritos stage can also be laid seam down in a baking dish and melty cheese sauce poured over it and baked til hot and bubbly for a decadent treat you should only eat on a special occasion. This is very delicious with a very onion loaded filling, but definitely not to be eaten every day. lol. Other rolled things I like are Cabbage Rolls which is a "grandma recipe" in the US and stuffed grape leaves which is Greek. Mexican Tamales are very delicious but I don't know if you can get them or the ingredients in your country.
