Tahir was so worried about 2 foot of snow. As a kid near Chicago in 1967, I remember my dad DIGGING A TUNNEL in the snow to our elderly neighbors house just to make sure they were o.k.. The snow was OVER the roof of our house!! In 1978, I was shoveling snow off the roof of our building at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center because there was so much snow on top (nearly 6 ft) they feared the weight would collapse the building. 2 feet is NOTHING!! 🙂 Now in my 60's and in Tennessee, everything closes if they see a single snowflake in the air!!

Actually Jamaican jerk chicken has a lot of influence from the Indian Sub Continent. Many of the spices used to make the dish are spices that originally came from the Indian Sub Continent. These spices were then taken by the British to the Caribbean and adopted by the Afro Caribbean populations they brought to the Caribbean. Furthermore, there was a huge Indian Sub Continent diaspora that was also taken by the British to the Caribbean and their cuisine greatly also influenced Caribbean culinary.

In the west, ketchup may go with hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries, but it is not used as a condiment in almost every "hot food" as it seems to be in Pakistan. Jerk chicken is one such item -- don't apply ketchup to it. Also, ketchup is masking the true flavor of the food they are supposed to be tasting. I can understand ketchup on french fries, since without it, it is nothing but a fried potato. But on items where the chef has spent a lot of time preparing, and then the food is dunked in ketchup before tasting it -- that isn't a good look, and a lot of chefs (at least in the west) may consider it an insult. Just letting the producers know.

That even LOOKS Delicious. And Tahir is exactly right about the yogurt. Some nice cooling homemade yoghurt with some thinly sliced cucumbers and some fresh dill in it would be perfect to replace the catsup. In fact, I can't imagine catsup with Jerk Chicken. I use hot sauce on it myself. And I like mine with a side of off-the-cob buttered corn with chopped braised green & red sweet peppers in it, and maybe a small plate of stewed mashed black beans with a big scoop of yellow rice. Jerk Chicken is an excellent centerpiece to a very yummy Caribbean meal. But it is a labor intensive dish taking many hours to marinate.
